Im easy with that but the conflict is if the USA pulls off some mythical upset against them...
Mythical? I think not. I'm tired of everyone writing off the US team, or any of the major teams for that matter. Since the NHL has been involved in the olympics, an "underdog" has won 2 out of the 3 tournaments. Canada has only gotten a medal one time.
All of the major countries are supremely talented, anyone of them can win. The difference will be chemistry and goaltending.
According to Kevin Allen of USA Today, Jack Johnson has hired a private jet to fly him and his family to Vancouver so Jack can walk in the opening ceremonies and then back to LA for the game against Colorado on the 13th. According to Jack, "It's a once in a lifetime thing."
Hammond will also have a note on his blog soon about the same thing.

Thats pretty cool maybe he'll be the flag bearer The funny thing is besides like 10 other athletes who are huge and get big sponsors(Ohno, Vonn, Shaun White, etc) Jack will be the highest paid athlete there. I bet 80 percent of the athletes there couldn't afford a private jet, shows how privileged professional athletes are.

Yeah. I wonder which US athlete is the highest paid? I'm assuming Shaun White.
Hammond posted a short Q&A with Jack and Murray:
Quote:
Question: You obviously consider this a high honor. Was there something about the Olympics that grabbed you at an early age?
JOHNSON: “Yeah, I think everyone knows how big the Olympics are. No matter where you go in the world, if you walk in some place and say you’re an Olympian, they know what you’re talking about. It’s a huge thing. I’ve watched opening ceremonies, closing ceremonies, and to be selected in the Olympics, I’d like to march with the other athletes from my country.”
Whitney and Gleason named replacements for the Olympics. Scuds misses out. Hm...maybe someone should challenge Whitney tonight to increase Scuderi's chances.
ESPN Los Angeles has a reporter with the Johnson family chronicling his trip up to Vancouver for the Opening Ceremony and then back again. You can follow it here:
