Interesting. Perhaps Lang is hurt?

Do we bother with Witt? He technically fits the "veteran defenseman" bill that Maloney claims to be seeking. I don't think he's an upgrade on Vandermeer though.

I would mind him if we claimed him on re-entry waivers, just too expensive at 3 million a season. Chances are another team would pick him up first before we got a chance.

I don't mind Joel Perrault. I thought he was great when he was up here last year. He has some decent wheels.

I think Witt's too expensive to take on. Maybe on re-entry if the salary stays split next year too.

I'm sorry even at $1.5m Witt is way over priced and he still has cash due next year. i say pass.

I'd love to see them take on Witt, but maybe I am living on the past in regards to that player. His contract expires in 2010-2011 and if the Islanders are waiving him maybe he is really that bad now.

If Joel is being recalled it makes me think that a trade or an injury is in play. It didn't seem like there were any injuries out of that game last night, but I guess there is a chance that they are sending Boedker back down already in favor of JP.

There is a lot of talk about trade activity happening before the 2/12 freeze as that is lifted on 2/28 with the deadline 3/2 or 3/3.

If memory serves, teams have only 4 days after the Olympic roster freeze before the trade deadline.

For all we know it could simply be a cost-cutting move they hope someone claims Perrault. He's on a one-way contract and will be a UFA after this season.

Maybe Boedker's getting sent down, once/if Joel passes through.

This may be JP last chance as a Coyote or another team maybe asking about him. He would have stuck if he was better at faceoffs, but he is a good defensive forward...

sometimes it is not all about the Coyotes, but what is best for the player. I can see them giving JP a chance on another team and picking up 1/2 of his remaining contract...

Not sure about Lang being hurt but he DEFINETLY wasnt in to that Shoot out attempt. Plus why did he go so late? He might be hurt might not be.

On the Dallas TV feed on Sunday, they said Lang was scratched due to injury.
This could be why he had minimal ice time last night and didn't go early in the shootout.

Reuniting the Doan-Perrault-Mueller line from Muellers rookie season? Maybe?

I see no reason to take Lombardi away from Doan just because Upshall is out.

With the talk of us looking at Poni and Exelby wanting out of Tor, any chance Perreault on re-entry to go with a 2nd to Tor for Poni and Exelby?

No fan of Exelby but he's definitely a bottom pairing, defensive defenseman on the last year of a $1.4M deal. Perreault deal a one-way ~$600K, so reduces cost of Exelby. Both UFAs at season's end.

IMO JP would have stuck in the NHL if he was better at faceoffs. It would give him another chance if the deal went down...
also see that Sjostrom is now with the leafs...

Question is, has he been recalled as a result, and if so, why?

It will be interesting to see if Mueller can outscore Perrault if Perrault gets some consistent ice time.

Joel Perrault up from San Antonio practiced with Yotes in Chi. He may not play tomorrow if Lang is ok. Bryz & Labarbera will split next 2.
That answers that.

Lang has a bruised hand, which is why he shot 9th in the shootout. Maloney sent Boedker back so he wouldn't sit.

So much for giving Boedker a chance.
