I really hope that the Pens are sniffing around the Sharks if they're dangling a player like GoGo. Setoguchi is off the big line and having a pretty dismal year. He would look dynamite next to Sid or Malkin.
As for Dallas, I would really like to see a trade for Brunnstrom but not for Goligoski.
The Gogo for Benn and Fistric thing is robbery for us. We'd have to add.
Anyway, I wouldn't be sold on it completely unless we have a solution on the Sarge & Letang part. We cannot really deal Gogo if we don't resign Gonchar, and while I'm quite sure we will... it isn't done yet.

You seriously think we're going to re-sign Gonchar?

I think our salary cap situation is enough evidence.
I'm not going to post the exact numbers, and our winger situation would be heavily influenced by prospects and 15-20 goal FA guys, but it's still possible and I think still a priority for Shero as it stands right now.
Now, I'm not saying which way is right, because I've haven't been anything close to a Gonchar proponent for the future, but I think there's still a good chance he's back next year.

He's having a real off-year and beyond Boyle, legit offensive defensemen are pretty few and far between on San Jose's roster and in their pool (Demers put up some numbers this year, but he's been pretty up-and-down).
Not saying the Sharks would be pressed into doing anything like this, especially considering Seto's history, but I could see the reasoning behind it. Gogs is a coveted asset.

Setoguchi has had to deal with injury and Pavelski has too which also hurts Setoguchi's production what with their first line being this loaded. Wouldn't think too much of this real off-year, and I doubt San Jose does either. Gogo really isn't close to meriting that kind of return, I think. Benn, yes. Benn +? Dallas would really have to feel it then.

If offensive defenseman was that big of a need to get rid of their best scoring winger sans Marleau (up until this year) I don't think they would have traded Ehrhoff for scraps. I suppose things do change however, especially due to Seto's down year.
No doubt Gogo is a huge asset, though. Especially with that contract.
I think they'd be more interested in Letang+, though, because of his more physical game which would be even more important in the West.
Why does everyone keep throwing Ott into the mix??? Since when do we need a player like Ott??!
Because having Ott makes us even harder to play against. Big pest/Agg/hitter, cheap. What is not to like about Ott? Dallas fans have mixed feelings about him. The guy can put up points too. Of course at UFA if it came down to Ott or Cooke i stay with Cooke for sure. Being tough to play against is never a bad thing, especially at this time and the Pens don't exactly strike fear into anyones hearts which needs to change. Ott+dman and we are done unless we can somehow aquire a winger ontop of these things.
