I want this thread to continue on like the a badge of dishonor forever. Or until the Rangers really "do have the talent".

So yep...It'll be up forever.

Want to watch some real hockey? Tune in at 10:30 for the Sharks/Hawks game.

Do we have the talent to win the cup?

Do we not have around 14 million in theoretical dead weight?

Once the answer to question two is yes, then we're heading in the right direction at the very least.

It is actually about 18 million in dead cap space(Drury, Redden, Kotalik, Brashear)

Read some of the posts on the first two or three pages if you'd like a good laugh.

Unbelievable what a 4 game winning streak does to some of the fans here.

Yea i wanted to be a little lenient giving Drury and Redden and Kotalik and combined 4 million worth.

But yea if you look at absolute, then 18 mil.

Heck Yeah!!!! Captain Intangibles is about to go on another hot streak -- that's right he's about to score 2 goals over the next 10 games. Of course with his great defensive play and pk ability (thats what some will say) the other team doesn't have a chance to score when he's on the ice! Lord Stanley is ours!!!!

Gotta give the Mouth credit though for being spot on with his post on the first page. This team definitely couldn't win the Calder Cup.

Take it in Ranger's fan, take it the **** in.

Just like you'd put a dog's nose in its piss to teach it not to do it again, perhaps this will be a lesson to us to not be so stupid.

If the Rangers played like they did against the caps every game, and Lundqvist is on top of his game, why can't we win it all?

Our defense was absolutely atrocious last night. That type of defense will not win you cups.

And this team is madly inconsistent. Scoring 8 goals one game and being shutout the next. The season is more than halfway over and they haven't been able to score goals consistently.

Long answer - No they don't.
Short answer - No.

And for anyone looking for a laugh (or to cry) and a blast from the past (and present and future as well)...

Won't work. People have no historical memory, especially when it comes to sports. All this will be forgotten when Sather signs a gaudy free agent this summer, just as happens every year. That and various sports maxims that have no basis in reality (e.g. "once you're in the playoffs, anything can happen") will always insure that those who wish to delude themselves will be able to do so.

Left Wing-Center-Gaborik
Prospal- Dubinsky- Right Wing
Avery- Anisimov- Callahan
Shelley- Boyle- Prust

Staal- Defensemen
Del Zotto - Girardi
Sangs/Sauer- Gilroy

Rangers right now are 4 players away from being a stanley cup contender. Two first line players, a 2nd liner and a top pairing defensemen.

They can probably become a respectable playoff team next year. But they will never be legitimate cup contender like (Pittsburgh, Washington, Chicago, SJ) until they get out of Drury, Redden and Rozsival's contracts.

Everyone print out this post and frame it, because it's 100% right.

It's a good reminder to look at when you're all excited after a game like Sunday vs the Flyers, that no matter how good they looked that game they are not even close to winning anything.

Thanks - Wow TSN originally had 6yrs for 6.5 total. That's what Redden is worth.
Some people really had it right.
