Now, I'm a Djurgården fan and I hate AIK with every inch of my body but..

Norström just made my top 5 all time player favourites by doing this. This guy has heart!

You can bet he does...he has the heart of a lion.
Sorry for the stupid question, but does AIK play in the SEL or in the second tier league?

neither ... they are in Division 1 (3rd tier) this year.

Thats correct. Which is what makes Norströms choice to play for them even greater. The only negative thing about it is that Norström probably won't be picked to play the World Championships. This is bad because IMO, Norström has been by far the best of the NHL defenders in international play the last few years.

I wonder what the National Team coaches thinks about this. Both Johan Hedberg and Mattias Norström is good enough for the national team, no one seeing they being picked 'cause they play in a lower division?

Hedberg perhaps. But Lundqvist will be the #1 goalie anyway so it doesn't matter. Norström I doubt, to go from division 1 to the World Championships seems to be quite a leap, even if Norström is very skilled and experienced. Maybe it could work if he plays enough practice games before the tournament?

Guess if im happy, AIK is my favourite club and we have gone through some tought years, first we dropped down from SEL to Allsvenskan (tier II) and then we were relegated due to our poor financial situation to Division 1 (tier III). Now we are second in the league with good chances to reach Allsvenskan again and with Mattias help...

There have been rumours that Rob Blake will join us too since he wants to play where Mattias does that, they have already talked about it, so you never know

Ah I wish that AIK would have still played in SEL this season, what a team we would have got then:
Miika Kiprusoff (even if TPS is his first club he made a name of himself in AIK), Mattias Norström, Dick Tärnström, Nicklas Hävelid, Henrik Tallinder (lot of d-men) and Michael Nylander.....

I will be in stockholm for AIK-Vasby on Feb 23rd. I noticed on ticnet, that only half of the arenas seats are available, does AIK get quite poor crowds now? and so i presume tickets will be easy for me to pick up once im in stockholm? Thanks!

Tickets should be easy to pick up. They have like 800 spectators now. It will probably be more at this game but nevertheless you shouldn't have a problem. I suppose they will open up the rest of the rink in the unlikely event they need to.

I would guess that there will be close to 3000 since it will be the most important game of the season but the arena takes more than 6000 so it won't be a problem to get a ticket. I will be there at least

Why will this be the most important game?

These two teams are head-to-head right now and only one team will reach the promotion play-offs.
