I know it'll never happen but... that was almost refreshing to see.
Imagine Jagr and Gaborik on the same team? Hell, on the same PP unit? Our PP would have been at like 30%. To think something like that could have actually happened. Too bad that Jagr is just a little too old now for any sort of 'comeback'

Jagr is supposed to make a return to the NHL next year but he said he wants to go to the Oilers, not the Rangers.

I remember people saying that in 2005, hehe.

I wonder if he's actually watched the Oilers this season ahah

Not that we're much better, but the Oilers and Carolina have been the two worst teams in the league this season

Not that you're wrong, but both of Chico's comments here are pretty spot on.

Lundqvist's glove hand is his glaring weakness and last night he was very good with his glove. Also, Henrik does seem to play well against the Devils.

Hold on, people who are told to cover only one team for 7-9 months at a time, spend a good portion of that interacting with the players and management as part of the job, spending those 7-9 months on the road away from families with those players, may have played for the team at one point, and broadcast specifically to the fans of that one team, may be homers? Stop the presses!

Every broadcasting team is biased and homers. It's unavoidable. Some people have pride in the company that gives them a paycheck and it reflects in their work.

Now, if the complaints are that Chico sounds like he started hitting the bottle a little early some nights, I may not have a problem with it, but complaining that he's a homer? Don't be ridiculous. Every team's broadcast team is just as awful if you're not fans of that team.

Try again. People here acknowledge that a degree of homerism is inevitable when dealing with regional announcers. But you can do that and still have an air of professionalism. Emrick and Rosen do it, JD did it, Ron Darling does it, and I'm sure there are plenty of guys all over the country who do it. The problem with Chico is that he shows more homerism than most, and makes it clear that he sees the Devil players as his friends.

Have you watched any Canadian local broadcasts? Calgary Flames announcers practically cry whenever a penalty is called against the Flames, regardless of how valid the call was. Or how Nashville broadcasters couldn't understand the concept that when the net was lifted and the puck was pushed under from the side, how that wasn't a goal (because Nashville was the team that pushed it under the side)?

Chico's probably in the worst half of announcers when it comes to being homers, but there's plenty that are far worse. At least he complains about awful calls for both teams fairly consistently and offers evaluation of how a goaltender should be responding to a play from a goaltender's perspective (even if Brodeur is rarely to blame, according to him).
