Good trade for both sides

Sharks just got better and Hurricanes got a nice pick

Hawks need to do something with Sharks and Devils making moves to better themselves

Not thrilled with Wallin, but I really don't mind seeing him on the blueline for the Sharks for now.

Thanks DW, because we don't already have enough bottom pairing defensemen!

Good playoff experience in Wallin. For some reason he just turns it up a notch or two in the postseason and adds a bit of clutch goal scoring, lol. That Sharks defense does have speed/mobility issues, though, but this is still a smart deal by Wilson.

Settle down commander, Wallin is a solid defenseman who is strangely clutch in the playoffs.

He certainly can be, but he's odd like that. He'll play a very physical game and absolutely lay someone out then play a rather soft hitting game (In comparison).

Decent acquisiton, good to see he was willing to waive his NTC. Now he can play for an extension.

The sharks need someone who can hit on the bottom pairing huskins looks like hes scared to hit or be hit half the time.

Wallin is definitely not afraid to hit or be hit. But he's far more likely to go for a safe pin of someone on the boards to be able to fight them off the puck or let someone else get to it then go to outright crush them. He does have a nasty side to him though when he wants to show it.

Good trade for both teams.

Sharks get defensive depth and Hurricanes get a pick for the rebuild.

I agree the Sharks had to pay a bit of a price and Wallin is more worth a 3rd or 4th than a 2nd but this shouldn't work out horribly. The pick will probably be like an early 3rd anyway. He may be a bottom-pairing D-man but he's a good one so he's probably going to be much better than Huskins/Leach/Demers from what I hear Sharks fans say about them. Adding another veteran never hurts and adding one with playoff experience who plays well in the playoffs, who already has a Cup, is always a good move.

It's good that Wallin waived his NTC. Wasn't he rumored to be involved in a trade that would send him to San Jose or Philadelphia a few years ago but refused to waive his NTC for either team?

I can't believe so many Sharks fans are so worked up over a depth move. A big, physical veteran defenseman with Cup experience who amps up his game in the playoffs = win.

The Sharks didn't need a depth defenseman. They didn't need "Cup Experience". They didn't need a slow, old, defenseman who doesn't address the teams need on D (which was for a fast mobile defenseman who could shut-down the faster forwards that are making a mockery of the Sharks defense. In other words, they need Christian Ehrhoff).

This is just another ******** move by DW thinking that "Cup experience" means jack squat when experience has never been the issue with the team.

Wallin could be the greatest bottom pairing d-man of all time and it wouldn't mean anything for the Sharks chances of winning the Cup. That is going to be dependent on Thornton actually elevating his game in the playoffs for once, for Heatley to not float around waiting for Thorton to pass, for Nabby to steal a game or 2 in the playoffs like he does in the regular season, and for the Sharks to get consistent secondary scoring from the 2nd and 3rd lines. Wallin does nothing for any of those issues.

Aren't the Sharks over the cap? Where's the obligatory dump of Shelley?

Please don't tell me that NO ONE in the NHL wants Jody. Say it ain't so!
