Countless times, Sheldon stepped up to protect his teammate while he played for the Canadiens. I can't remember any comments by him or anyone on the team that could give that kind of impression -- that he's all about money.
I don't know. I'm not a player, I'm not a journalist, but to me, Sheldon Souray has always seemed like a genuine person, a great teammate, and a fierce competitor.

I think Daneyko implied that Souray's choice of teams (good teams but teams that aren't exactly expected to win the cup this season) meant he didn't care about winning.
Hence my point : if Daneyko cared so much about winning, he wouldn't have refused to sign in New Jersey early in his career.

A bit different, since Kenny was actually drafted by the Devils, and it was early in his career, so it was the Devils if he wanted to play in the NHL.
Whereas, this is late in Souray's career, and he basically has his pick of teams.
Anyway, not like it necessarily gives Daneyko inside information, but Souray and Brodeur are co-owners of some restaurant. Dano and Souray also used to be teammates.
Well there wasn't really UFA's prior to 1994 so who knows about that.
I will say this don't forget Dano was teammates with Souray for a few seasons.
If that's the case, I would have to question a 40 plus adult who doesn't realize the mental difference usually evident between a 22-24 year old just entering the league, and a 33 year old with children.
These guys have a limited amount of time to make some serious money, I dont blame them for wanting to get as much as they can while they can still play. Its no different than one of us leaving the company we work for because another is willing to pay an extra 10-15 grand a year.
it's childish and embarrassing for some of you to bring up his substance abuse problems.
Ironically, those making the asinine statements about Ken Daneyko's past indiscretions are not embarassed.
Of course, among perfect human beings such as found here, redemption is clearly out of the question for those of us who have made mistakes.
The man offered an opinion, as he is paid to do. How small is someone that s/he cannot discuss Daneyko's point of view, as opposed to insulting him, personally?

In this case, I think it goes to the topic at hand.
I question the commitment to winning of anyone who lets substance abuse take over their life, and possibly affect their performance on the ice. And I have a problem when someone who did that takes a shot at someone else's professional commitments.
