what has any of those ahl guys you mentioned shown they can do to replace a legit nhl player? nothing. they are not going to help now. dont disagree they need more skill in the lineup. Carcillo, lappy, asham have roles on this team and they play them better than they anyone.

Seriously, this is the best that could happen to OKT. Homer didn't just throw him in a deal, he gave him a chance to recover from the knee injury. Right now OKT can't perform at this level, but he needs to play, being benched is the worst. Some time in the minors will do him good in many ways, then he can return to Detroit or sign with another club since he's a UFA. Why didn't just Homer waive him and send him down? Well as you say, it's better to get something for him in case he's claimed.

As for me, no I'm not a flyers fan, don't think I'll hang around in here. Right now I'm a HF member, maybe I'll jump into the lounge and talk crap. I know you'll miss Wolfy, you just lost your whipping boy, on the ice and on this board
Haha. I, for one, will miss you Wolfy. You always kept me entertained! Enjoy rooting for the Griffins!

Holmgren made a trade put the label on him saying 'use when needed'

Glad to see this. Leino has some skill, we'll see if we get to see it here.

Now that OKT is gone, who is gonna be the new whipping boy?

Ville Leino of course. You should think he's pretty good, after all Homer paid with OKT. But I hear Leino is a lazy wimp who skates like a cow. Good luck with him.

I'm not sure what's best, one leg or four legs.

We actually traded a 5th for Leino . . . OKT was just because the flyers would have felt bad sending him to the minors so they let Detroit do it for them.

We need a dangler other than Giroux. Maybe this dude can help our shootouts.

This trade to me is a indication that the Flyers dont feel comfortable right now calling up anyone from the Phantoms. Ross,Kalinski,Nodl,Maroon ect.
OKT is gone, addition by subraction, even if Leino doesnt play one game for the Flyers.
Also Bartulis,Syvret>>>>>>>>OKT

I dont think it says anything about the phantoms. Holmgren is just trying to hit a home run

I do not know much about him but if he could not score on high scoring Detroit team last year or this year, what will he do here?

I do not know, I am not THAT excited but I guess we’ll see.

The fact that Flyers fans wrote 11 pages on a guy that is a borderline NHLer says how desperate we are. Hope he works out for us.

I personally dont mind taking a chance on this guy for what we gave up. IMO it was worth it for the sake of getting rid of OKT alone.

Who knows this guy has shown flashes of being a skilled player at the NHL level. Maybe a change of scenery is exactly what he needs. At the cost of a 5th rounder, I'm willing to take a chance.

O yeah.. we did not give up a lot and we got a guy who was very good in Finland.. and yes that good old "change of scenery" might be what he needs.

Do not disagree.

Not that I disagree, but this season, Detroit, according to them and others, arent doing so well in the scoring department. The guy has destroyed every single league except the NHL. He has shown that he has the skill but lazyness is a problem. Lavy will get him into shape. Thats one thing he is very good at.

if his work ethic and skating are as bad as Wings fans say it is you think hes a good fit in Laviolette's system?
funny how we gave up a 5th to help another team with the salary cap.

It is worth the risk in the end I do agree with that. We just lose a 5th and a guy who probably goes on waivers by March if we would have kept him.

Didn't realize that the purpose of the trade on Detroit's end was to open a roster spot for Franzen's return. If they put Leino on waivers, someone would have claimed him. Instead, they got a 5th and a waiver-cleared AHL defenseman. It's better than nothing.

Well, Detroit is one of the worst offensive teams in the league this year (24th).

Last year he had 9 pts in 13 games.

Price may be the better bet to trade for.
If the price is right that is
