Nice GDT MSE!
It has something to do with the Olympics and the broadcast for the opening night ceremonies.

Hartnell takes 2 stupid penalties is my prediction ???

I hope Boosh gets the start over Leighton, his luck has unfortunately run its course .

Going to the game tonight. Hoping for a win, but I'm expecting a 3 - 2 heartbreaker.

my predictions:

boosh starts. ilya does nothing. we likely still lose by a goal.

if we do win, brodeur will say he tweaked something in the 2nd period, even though there will be no visible difference in his play.

Just found this on Flyers site:

Monday, February 8

12:44 p.m. - Philadelphia, PA
Just a couple pregame notes before tonight’s Flyers-Devils match at the Wachovia Center tonight (7:00 p.m., Versus, Tickets)…

Michael Leighton will get the start in net; his third straight. Ray Emery skated for over an hour today, and Peter Laviolette said after practice that Emery felt “good.”

Newcomer Ville Leino, a winger acquired on Saturday from Detroit, took part in his second skate with his new teammates but said afterwards that he did not expect to play tonight.

Do you expect Leino to play today? If he does so who you play with him?

Seriously. FML cause I'm going to that game, and I work until 4:30. Like MSE said though, I heard that it's because the torch lighting is that night, and they want to give all the players who will be there the opportunity to watch it.

leighton starting? im gonna adjust my prediction to "lose by at least two."

he just may complete the collapse that a lot of people here are waiting for

Meh, I prefer a 6 start to a 9:30

I still don't understand the hate on Leighton. He gave up 2 bad goals in the last game yes. But that is not the reason we lost the game. People always overlook all of the key saves he made. The offense needs to step up to the plate. Leighton has given the team a chance to win the last two games. The team didn't follow through. I am not saying he should be the guy heading into the playoff run, but you can't overlook that almost every game he has played, he gives the rest of the team a solid chance to win.

He has only given up 3 or more goals 4 times in 14 games for the Flyers. Never really noticed it but thats pretty good.

We could have a bionic Bernie Parent in net and we'd still be losing 1-0 games.

This is what I'm talking about. When something is wrong with this team, the finger is almost always pointed at the netminder. People are so quick to overlook the true flaws in this team.

Good point, and I typically wouldn't mind it, but I have an hour and a half from the time I get out of work to go home, get changed, pick my friend up whose out of the way on snowy roads, and make it to Philly, all during rush hour on a Friday. Awesome? I think not.

My predictions:

Hartnell with two minor penalties, one fighting major.
Leino gets knocked on his ass four times.
Leighton lets in the very 1st shot towards him.
Giroux two brilliant set-ups, someone blows the chance.
Somehow they battle it to the OT, Carter with OT GWG.

Hartnell with penalties? Gee don't get too bold.
He'll be on his ass in the press box all game.
It'll probably be the 2nd shot, an awful rebound off the first (probably right to Kovalchuk)
Again, not a very bold prediction.
I'de be very happy to get to overtime.

I don't hold him accountable for any of our losses at all..granted, if he hadnt lost his mind on two plays, we may have won 1-0, but 2 GAA should be just fine, unless your offense forgets to play(ex: 09-10 philadelphia flyers). I'm just still not convinced that this is a permanent trend. although if he plays his ass off tonight and gives us a chance to win, im gonna start changing my mind.

i do like how he has noticeably improved in some areas, such as rebound control and positioning.
