Bob MacKenzie just said on NHL Live that it's a good chance it's Gainey.

They should just fold the franchise. I hate them.

fire GM, I was very close really

DownGoesBrown has something hilarious on his twitter, something like "yeah, Gainey is 'voluntarily" stepping down like I 'voluntarily' leave the bar when the bouncers tell me to leave"

If Toronto and Montreal and all their fans disappeared overnight, my biggest concerns would be losing DownGoesBrown and Phil Kessel (he is in a fantasy keeper league of mine)

I would trade Briere and his contract to Montreal in a heartbeat. Briere's contract is BAD now, and will KILL us in 4 years.

Gomez' contract says there is only room for one awful deal in Montreal.

Likely forced out due to trading for Gomez, bad contracts, lackluster team.

Holmgrem syndrome basically. Bad contracts and mediocre trades and a mediocre team = your fired

Sad thing is, there are plenty of other franchises struggling now. If we could get our **** together, we could definitely blow away a few of these teams.

someone mentioned to me that hes been under alot of stress since the accident involving his daughter a couple of years ago. Maybe things have caught up to him.
they have had some injuries this year. Gionta,Markov and now Cammalleri.
I do agree though, he did makes some questionable at best decisions with the Gomez trade and the Gionta contract.

Pierre Gauthier, who is Gainey's assistant, is supposed to be named the interim GM when Canadiens President Pierre Boivin speaks at a 4 p.m. ET press conference Monday.

As great a job as he did in Minnesota/Dallas, Gainey didn't do so good in his return to Montreal.
