Yeah, that's just the tip of the annoying iceberg for me There are still real good posters over there, but they are drowned out by the.... unintelligible.

For me it's

Tatar
Nyquist
Kindl
Mursak
Smith
Ferarro
Almquist

Obviously this is based on the overall status of the prospect (readiness, upside, intrigue, etc.), not just how close they are to the NHL.

I'll be interested to see where Almqvist lands in these polls. Seems a lot of people have him ranked pretty high. I'd probably put him at 15-20 myself.

What should we consider when grading a prospect?

What is their general potential?
How close are they to the NHL?
How close are they to being solid players in the Wings two-way system?

What else?

I'm voting for my underdogs, that's why it's pointless for me to keep this up.

Ferraro
Coetzee
Almqvist

Later round picks are intriguing to me from a value standpoint. You don't eat coal expecting to crap out diamonds. That's why I'm high on Almquist. Cause when they pan out it means you got a lot higher value than what you expect and that's always good for the franchise overall.

Let's see here...

1. Brendan Smith
2. Jan Mursak
3. I guess I missed the 3rd pick. Youuou bassstids!
Tomas Tatar would be my third pick but whatever
4. I would have picked Kindl. But he's off the board. So I'll go with Gustav Nyquist. That guy is Valtteri Filppula 2.0. Hopefully with a little more snipe action to his game.

I spoke too soon. As I post this Nyquist is up 11-10 to Mursak.

Add Coetzee and I will vote for him, too. Cinderella story in the making.....I really want that kid to succeed.

I think he is sort of overrated by some. He deserves alot of credit for what he is doing right now in the SEL but he still has proven little and doesn't deserve to be higher than 15/20ish area until he has proven more. Plenty of players like Ryno and Samuelsson have had decent rookie SEL seasons to go nowhere but down. Almqvist shouldn't be ranked higher than Pyett, Kolosov, Nicastro, and even Fournier. At least that is my opinion on the matter.

While I am not here to defend the board, that is not a true statement. In fact, I don't think you will find 1 post that makes this claim.

Honestly, I haven't seen anyone call for Nyquist to go to Detroit, but several RWC posters have pined for Mursak to be put on the Wings roster. And a couple have mentioned that Tatar should get a call-up.
