I wonder how Thursday will be in the morning. I work up in White Plains and drive from Queens. They aren't as quick cleaning up as down here.

Funny that no weather sites mention how much accumulation there will be. Only that there will be snow.

Network news are saying anywhere between 12-24in now. But that's what hpNYR already said

I have tickets to this game and if it snows as much as people are saying it will, there will be no way for me to get to the game from Long Island...the trains may not even be running. So what will the Rangers do for fans who spent all kinds of money on tickets but cannot make it to the game? Honest question.

The rangers need this one...they need to string together some wins. I know a lot of people would rather see us not make the playoffs, but this team just isnt weak enough where they will finish that low. If they dont make the playoffs its because they finished 9th or 10th in the conference. I'd rather see them get in the playoffs in the 7th or 8th slot and compete. Look what happened last year, they almost knocked the caps out in 5 games with no superstar in their offense. As long as you have gaborik and lundqvist you have a shot in a 7 game series. And if that Dubi-Ollie-Cally line continues to mesh well and develop into a solid 2nd line I dont see why this team couldnt at least make for an exciting playoff series. So I'm rooting for this team to make it.

This thread may get 1000 posts before the game is over on Wednesday lol.

Anyway, I doubt the game will be canceled for snow. Preds are in town already I believe and are probably staying in NYC because they play the devils right after us.

10-20" per latest guidance, locally 2 feet or more for nyc and points east-north-east.

Blizzard conditions, maybe even a blizzard watch warranted after what I saw tonight.

Thundersnow chances have definitley increased even more.
Hey, dude -- any chance you can update what to expect in the Monmouth/Ocean county area?

Oh, near Sea Girt, sort of. Know part of the area. Obviously since you're near the shore you're looking at a high wind event on top of the snow/mix.
I'm thinking right now,
Both of the major models came out tonight with a better handle on the situation. You're looking at anywhere from 1.00-1.50 Liquid Precipitation. Due to being so close to the coast, you're going to experience a warm up from those pesky onshore winds before the low ends up moving north of us. Not only that, but it looks like at 850/700mb there will be some slight warming. You might end up switching over to sleet/snow/rain mix for a brief period in the morning hours. As the low departs more eastward you'll transition back over to snow... with much of the bulk of the precip in this time period. Snow totals will most likely be completely determined when the transition to snow is.. but I don't see 6-12+ out of the question for you.. just depends on banding and when it transitions to snow. Expect ridiculous winds and gusts (Don't see 60mph+ gusts out of the question for you) creating white out conditions.

One thing though... I am about 70% certain that Mt.Holly will issue some blizzard warnings either tonight when they update or tomorrow morning. We'll see!

This meteorologist predicts a possible 20 inches as well for NYC

http://www.accuweather.com/mt-news-b.../02/post_2.asp

Quote:
As for snow amounts, I like my map that I issued today. Many places will get 6-12 inches of snow from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic, and the I-95 corridor from DC to Boston is where the big snows of over 12 inches will occur. Philly and NYC will get close to 20 inches of wind blown snow that will shut the cities down late Wed. I would suggest staying home Wed because commute home is going to be very bad. Even southern New England will get into the blizzard.
Seriously, I cant see how the NHL would allow a game to take place if the city is shut down. Either way my tickets are already on sale in a bunch of spots...hopefully someone takes them in case the game is played.

Because the NHL does not postpone except under the worst of circumstances. I think it was the Rangers who were in Philly during a huge storm they got, over a foot of snow, it was still falling during the game. They played.

Not to mention, with the strength of the subway and Metro North, NJ Transit, and LIRR, NYC is simply never really shut down. People will be able to get around. It won't be easy, nor will it be fun, nor will there be more than 10-11,000 in the stands, but they'll almost certainly play.

alright, my hopes are officially up: if I don't get at least 12inches and THUNDERSNOW! here in Brooklyn, then I will be upset.

Alas, now that I've articulated these wishes, the fickle weather gods will most like spurn me.

When was the last time an NYR game at MSG got postponed because of snow? I don't remember any ever.

As long as the 2 teams are here and they will be and refs can get here and there's mass transit I'd think the game will be played.

I'd have to agree. They don't care if nobody shows up to the game. The tickets are already sold. I believe there's only a very small chance the game will be postponed.
