Jurcina would be the best option if available. Exelby plays with jam and hits. He would still be a better option than Redden. Its time to send Redden to the press box and let him watch the game with Brashear.
Schubert is a 5-6 guy who is physical but won't fight and everybody knows it.
If anyone should be out of the lineup--it's not Gilroy--it's Redden.
Jurcina and Seidenberg seem like the best bet though Seidenberg might not be available either.
Agreed. Jurcina also seems like the best bet because he shouldn't cost much at all, is a UFA, and brings unteachable size and reach. He's questionable defensively, but I wouldn't mind seeing him here for the rest of the year at all. Especially if it all it costs is a late pick or a Voros / low-level prospect.
Jurcina would be great. I'd even consider re-signing him, depending on what kind of space we have this summer. He's big and he's better than I think he gets credit for. He even has a bit of offensive upside. I think on a decent team he's a solid bottom pairing option, without question.
Bouillon and Seidenberg were two guys the Rangers were rumored to have been going after this past summer but didn't work out.
Not signing Bouillon is truly a headscratcher considering he only has a cap hit of $750,000. He's small but feisty, he hits and sticks up for his teammates. Would definitely be interested in him.
I feel the same way. The only thing I can think of is that Sather thought Semenov was going to be our 6th / 7th and then Bouillon was signed already? I can't remember when he signed, but I was hoping we'd get him this offseason as well.
I agree. Girardi is playing top pairing minutes, against the elite players of the league. He is a very very good #3-4 defenseman, probably one of the better in the league, but people dont realize that because the rangers defense is so ****** he is one of the closest things we have to a top pairing defenseman.
People think our defense sucks now? So lets get rid of a still somewhat young player, with experience, and play a 3rd rookie on an already horrible D. Great ****ing move, reeks of genius
i really don't want to see Slats part with anything to get his hands on any one of them. This team really needs someone that has a great instinct as far as retrieving the puck and making a first move/pass. I think Boullion is easily the best of that bunch for that, but he's hardly a difference maker.
Since a move like this would guarantee no ice time on broadway for Heikk, and considering he's already stated that if he doesn't make the NHL, he's going to take his toys and go home, Heikk's about the only asset we have that Slats should consider moving.
Shubert, Boullion, or Seidenberg would all be good additions in the 5-6 spot. Could be the writting on the wall for Redden. He's been brutal. I don't see the Rangers trading one of Girardi or Roszival if they are looking to add a D-man. Go with:
