At first, I was pretty pissed off that we chose to go after Cormier...but then I started thinking...

Klingberg-Cormier-Machacek

Now there's a 3rd line that would be absolutely dominant in a few years. Hey, Alex, try getting through these guys without a scratch...

I don't think we had a shot at whoever the top prospect LW is (too lazy to look his name up), and Dudley/scouting thought Cormier was their best prospect anyway, so combine that with his stock being so far down thanks to his landmark elbow and you get an idea of why we were able to get him in the first place.

I'm not a fan of his, but will reserve final judgment until I see what he can do on the big stage. That said, I can't stand Downie, Avery, C Lemieux, young Tucker, etc and will be angry if we have a cheapshot artist on the team, even if he brings a physical game. I saw Sutton hit enough people from behind to last me for the next decade.

I don't know about you guys, but I made the best decisions when I was 19. Every one of 'em was rock solid and rooted in pure correct judgement. How dare this kid make a mistake!!! Now I'm off to play more Heroine Hero. Maybe I'll catch the dragon this time! /sarcasm

I gotta say, I'm very worried about this kid. I think he'll be a great addition to the team if he gets some help getting his temper under control, but in my opinion he looks like he has a lot more issues than bad decision making.

I'll withhold further judgement until we see how he responds to the suspension. But mark me down as concerned.

It only looks that bad cause he plays in that pansy QJMHL were everyone skates with there head down and hardly any one plays defense. If he did that in the WHL 1 the guy would have had his head up so he would see it coming. 2 the guy who got hits teammates would have bet his @$$.

I heard a lot about this elbow. I decided to take a look at it. That was a pretty bad shot.

It was cheap and uncalled for...so what! We've seen worse.
Hockey is a rough game and Cormier plays with an edge--"a little bundle of hate".

It happened in international hockey that's why the big fuss!

Decide for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hzeOhL8_9g

On the other hand, we could be getting this guy :

If only that were the elbow everyone was talking about.

This is much worse, and happened about 3 weeks after the elbow to Rodin. I'm still in favor of having this kid on the team, but the aftermath of this is very difficult to watch (Tam starts convulsing on the ice, scary stuff). This is what got him suspended for the season.

Sorry, Joe. This is the incident that has him suspended. Looks like we have a repeat offender.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aplfhPu4iiU

I could live with either incident if it was in the course of trying to make a play for the puck and the elbow came up, but in both the International game and the game in the Q, he was making absolutely no attempt to play the man or the puck.

But that's ok, he tries to play like that with the big boys and he'll have an Easton logo where his front teeth used to be.

I'm not saying everyone should go out and cheap shot but people are over reactin. I've seen worse.

Priceless.

When the King of Rock 'em Sock 'em Hockey himself, Don Cherry calls it a cheap shot I think we have our answer.

I made some bad decisions too. But not even close to the magnitude of what Cormier did. Now, I'm not saying something is definitely wrong with him. But it would be irresponsible to not consider that a possibility and really investigate it.

This is literally the dumbest post I have ever read on HFBoards.

Go Google "seizure".

There is borderline dirty and smart, and just dirty and stupid. Jarkko Ruutu for example is usually pretty smart about his antics, he normally doesn't take stupid penalties at wrong times and makes sure someone else is going to the box too. Avery in Dallas for example was just plain out of control stupid. Coach needs to tell Comrier that causing a five minute PK just because he decided to take a run at someone is not acceptable, player like him needs to play hard but smart. You play hard to win, not for the sake of playing hard.

Yeah, and when he stopped breathing for 30 seconds, he was just holding his breath to increase the drama. Boy, these guys will do anything to get attention.

It was a cheap elbow (aren't they all though?) but it looks like the real damage was done when Tam's head hits the ice.

But it's a thin line. If Tam gets up and cracks a stick across Cormier's back, then Tam becomes the villain and we're having a totally different conversation.

so much for being 'real'

thats a homer defense if i've ever seen one..just becasue a guy is now member of the team doesnt excuse him from his actions.

did you see the elbow he threw in an exhibition agaisnt Sweden too?

the kids dirty and has some issues upstairs, hopefully he deals with them because he IS talented.
