just out of curiosity

Let's swap Coburn with Barker, new scenery for both of these guys?

Would you do it?

Won't work cap wise. Barker makes more than double what Coburn does.

as a hawks fan yes i do it for sure...coburn saves us 1.7mil off the cap is young like barker and plays more of a defensive physical game than barker which is more what we need....good deal

Barker makes too much in this case, and I get the feeling he'd turn into our second Matt Carle-- getting a bunch of praise for leeching points while playing with a top 5 or 15 defenseman, and not really learning/doing the things he needs.

I like Barker, and I'd like to see him go somewhere he has to figure things out.

I don't think the Hawks need another contract for next season. If they're going to trade Barker, Versteeg or Byfuglien they would need to get a pending UFA back.

This trade would work cap-wise, but the Flyers would have to send Oskars Bartulis down to the minors.

Flyers say no. No need to add to our cap for a lateral move
