Derek Roy

0 points in 6 games. Honestly, if he doesn;t want to be here and doesn't want to play everynight, can he please leave? This is ridiculous. It's not just a slump, which happens to everyone. He's just not playing. It's extremely frustrating.

If that's the case, then put him in the press box for a night.

Doubt that'll happen. Jillson should've been sat down months ago, and continues to be horrible, yet he plays in all key situations. If a player is a Sabre prospect or player, he's going to play everynight regardless.

They did sit Vanek, so that's not true. But you're right. Jillson and Roy deserve a sit, too.

Might as well just give him to Ottawa. What else can you do?

True, but that was one case. Novotny, Jillson, Roy are all guys who should have been sitting in the stands for their play. But it never happens. I understand they need to play, but sometimes it greatly benefits them to sit out a game or two.

I disagree on Novotny, though some may find that strange. He's played terrible hockey for a first round pick, but considering he's playing mostly on the fourth line (though he gets a strange amount of power play time), he's done well at what he does. For a fourth line center, he's put up a few points and manages to win all his faceoffs. I don't think Novotony will ever develop or be an NHL player, but he's shown improvement, IMO. Players that are getting better don't need to sit (even if they are a first round pick who shouldn't be just getting better at being a 4th line player).

Players like Roy, however, who are playing worse and worse do deserve a seat. A guy like Roy can play much better, whereas Novotny hasn't shown us that he's not playing the best he can. In fact, this is the best he has played, as sad as they may sound.

IMO, if I were you I wouldn't hold any hope of Jillson getting a healthy scratch until the injuries on defense heal a bit.

That's the point I was making. Even when everyone is healthy, he'll play every night and in all the important situations.

Right. But if Cunneyworth is getting frustrated and wants to sit Jillson it would probably be a good idea to wait until Cullen's back.

Add that to the list of things I never expected to write.

Speaking of Cullen, what's wrong with him? Where's he been?

Groin injury. The PP has struggled with his absence, but is actually just a result of how bad Derek Roy is on the PP. The Amerks PP trys to get him the puck along the side boards and then he trys to set up all the plays. Unfortuantely, he's not that good at it. Pittis was great at it, and that's why the PP was so good last season, and why Pominville had so many goals. Coincidence Pominville is struggling to score? Like I said over the summer, his goal totals would go down with Pittis gone. The Amerks don't have a real set up guy on offense and it's killing them. Only two players in double digits in goals. That just won't cut it in the playoffs.

Did Pomminville play the point on the power play last year when he racked up those goals, or has he been filling in during Cullen's absense?

He did play the point. He'd always sneak in a little bit and Pittis would somehow find a way to get him the puck for a one-timer. The Amerks really haven't been able to do tha play all that much because they don't have anyone good enough to make those kinds of passes.

It sounds like roy has allready been playing the bench. I haven't herd any excitement with the name roy on it.. in weeks. I think our lineup has been a problem for roy. I don't know much about Cunneyworth's attitude toward line changes. But lindy wouldn't play this team the same.

So I'm assuming at this point, if one big namer had to be signed, go with Pittis over Fitzpatrick? Think either one could happen by season's end?

Fitzpatrick would be the most likely one. The D&C had an article stating he wanted to be here. However, it makes no sense. When everyone is healthy the Amerk have 7 capable defensemen. Why would we need Fitzy? Signing a forward obviously makes the most sense. A guy like Pittis would cost a lot of money, and the Amerks don't have it, and the Sabres aren't willing to give it to the Amerks. Plus, could they even sign Pittis? I don't know much about these contracts in Europe and if they have an escape clause. I do know that there seasons potentially could be over in February. Who knows. The Amerks are ina bad situation because they neglected to address an area over the summer, and now it's probably too late to fix it.
