I wonder what this is going to do to competitors prices when they come out with a new skate. Its a pretty significant jump. Are CCM, RBK, etc gonna have their top of line skate at a $800. price tag?

Makes those old One95s look like cheap stuff.

Luckily I already got the X60's for a mere $600. What a bargain!

Haha seriously!

Even though there are always cheap alternatives (older models, used), how off putting would this be to a newcomer to the game and looking to get going? Parents who are thinking about getting their kids started in the sport would probably turn and run at the sight of that price tag and get their kid a basketball or a ball and bat!!!!! Ridiculous.

They're not out yet- it's just a pre-order. You'll have to wait a bit longer...

They're pretty sick looking.....but $$$

Hopefully this will lower the price of the one95 and the one75 as I'm in need of a new pair of skates!

One95 and One75 have been on closeout prices for weeks, impossible to find in an average size anymore.

A lot more than you think. Buying material in bulk is how Bauer keeps manufacturing costs down.

If I am not mistaken, they are doing a limited amount of TotalOne's. The One100 will replace the One95.

A month or so ago my LHS had One75's for $299 US.

Add in advertising costs as well as operating costs for the company, shipping costs, labor costs, utility costs, etc. I'm sure they make money, but I doubt they're making $850 on a $900 skate.

Don't count on being able to find them at your LHS unless it's a large chain with platinum dealer status.

They better be so light, and I better not ever feel a puck hit my foot when I block a shot if they cost that much.

If it is then perhaps they shouldnt be playing the sport if they buy equipment thats not right for them. These skates arent made or priced for beginners yet unfortunately you will have some that buy them because they think it will make them a better skater when it will in fact hurt their skating.

These skates aren't priced or designed for kids just looking to get into the sport. Besides, it's not as if these are the only skates in the world and parents have no other options for their kids.

I really wish these companies would devote less time to marketing and superfluous R&D and just focus on improving their existing products while reducing costs. It is a waste of time at this point to get attached to any piece of equipment because once it's worn out you are pretty much forced to start over with something new. But as long as kids keep buying into the advantages of "Alive" composites and "Spyne Technology", this will continue to be good business and we'll keep getting ridiculously expensive yet completely unnecessary upgrades to already awesome equipment.
