Anyone who is happy that this could sideline gaborik for a few games which would allow us to lose so we can drop lower in the standings is a disgraceful and pathetic hockey fan. You guys are jokes. And certainly not realists if you think we're going to fall far enough to get a lottery pick. Be a fan of the F'in team and support them.

So Gabby broke his nail or the equivalent thereof and this board goes nuts? In other news, Lundqvist burped. Quick, call the Red Cross.

Well this is the fan base that was hoping one of its players would get a career ending injury.

I can't see how anyone would've been excited to see Gaborik possibly sidelined. This guy has been one of the few things to cheer about this year.

It really is a joke, isn't it?

The people that want the team to tank always disgust me. I would rather make the playoffs in the 8th seed than tank. Much rather.

Granted, I'd rather finish 30th than finish 16th.

Considering how vocal this fanbase was about how disgusting it was with Pittsburgh tanking and how the Rangers never should/will do that, it makes it even more so. New word people: Tanktards.

Agreed 1000%. Anyway, if it's between finishing 9th in the East vs. 30th in the league, yeah I'll take 30th. If it's between finishing 8th in the East and 30th in the league, I'll take 8th in the East. Playoffs are playoffs. Whether we win or loss it's great experience for the young guys too.

As long as the only thing that happened was that the skate broke skin, then whew.

Hopefully no muscle tears, pulls or ANYTHING (when he hit the boards perhaps).

Doesn't seem like its serious (going to read the full thread now)

Edit: Yea by all the twitters and general feeling, looks like its just a cut. Guess we'll find out soon enough how bad of a cut it was (I pray it didn't touch muscle).

Just a fancy word for cut. Kind of like how football players get contusions instead of bruises. Doesnt look like any muscle was affected. To quote Monty Python "It's just a flesh wound".

He'll be okay as long as the cut doesn't get infected.

I wouldn't be too worried about an infection.

Since when has a pro athlete recently had a serious infection resulting from a cut? They have doctors and trainers checking up on it EVERY DAY, and probably in between periods as well during the game.

I don't think tanking is an option. And anyone that endured all those years of missed playoffs would always rather catch an 8th seed than miss them entirely. Barring an injury to Hank, I don't see any tank in the future.

Hope Gabby comes back very soon.

Fixed. Our only real key injuries have been Jagr throwing out his shoulder on Scotty Gomez, and I believe Hank might have missed a few weeks somewhere.

The only way I'd support a tank is if there's < 10% chance of going to the playoffs..

If I were carolina I wouldn't be winning any games right now..

I think it's pretty stupid that they still win games. You're not going to the playoffs, why win and give up the 30th spot?

We however, still have a decent shot of making the playoffs, and once you go in, anything can happen. We could hit a hot streak. Another team could hit a cold streak, or have injuries to key players. Just because we're unlikely to win the cup doesn't mean we don't try to get it.

Yuk, yuk, yuk.

To be fair, by the way, I should qualify my previous post by saying that the Browns' problems with staph infections are tied to surgery, not cuts received on the playing field.

Players don't take the ice thinking 'hmm, we suck so let me/us purposely let the other team win'. No they go out there to compete cause that's what athletes do...
However the organization may think differently.

Right now only Edmonton is a guarantee lottery team. Toronto (really the Bruins pick) and Carolina are capable of winning games. and they have.

Laceration sounds like such a nasty word. The word makes it sound so much worse than "cut" or something.
