Diagnosed January 2009. Some say it takes a good year to get over it, and it's early February 2010.

well, I guess it depends how severe the infection is... mono can be like a minor flu, or can be near-paralysis.

I don't think Philly will be willing to give what is required to get Mason; an elite goalie in my opinion is worth more than an elite player in any other position. That being said, Mason isn't elite yet but he does have the potential.

I say it starts with Giroux being in the conversation.

This thread just shows how knee-jerk the hfboards are. Last season, he was a bonafide top-whatever goaltender. Now, he has "fallen from glory." Gimme a break. He's a young goaltender. He'll bounce back.

No.

If there was a chance it would, as always, start with Carter. It would be Carter+ based simply on how important Mason is to the Blue Jackets. It would also be predicated on the Jackets finding another goaltender. Garon is not the long, or short, term answer.

Also, Sophomore slump is what i think is going on with him right now. Columbus isn't very deep at Goal as far as prospects go. I don't see them trading him away.

Philly is not going to get Mason for a bag of pucks, like they keep offering to the Habs for Price/Halak. Mason would require a JVR or Giroux or Carter type involvement in the deal. More pieces from both sides can be included depending upon what is offered by Philly. Carter would be the main player that could entice Columbus due to their overwhelming desire to find a center for Nash.

Philly fans need not try to apply for Mason, because it is well known that most of them won't offer JVR/Giroux/Carter for a goalie. There isn't anything else Philly has that could pry Mason from Columbus (assuming Richards and Pronger of also untouchable).

How about a 21 year old goalie that will carry them for years to come.

He's not the first person to have a bad second year. He will get over it! Or, why would the flyers want him?

If the Jackets traded every player who had a sub par year they would have a whole new team next year with Nash and RJ.

Mason will be fine..
