he called the kovalchuk trade a few days before the trade went down, getting almost every player in the trade correct. He also has called some trades the Rangers have made in the past as well. He is pretty legit.
EDIT: and how are Sanguinetti, Sauer, Gilroy, and Callahan overpaid crap? Do some research on the Ranger's players listed before you speak.
I have little interest in Gilroy.
I'd take Callahan or Dubinsky for sure, assuming what we're giving up is reasonable.
Anisimov is borderline. The kid shows promise, but as with most young prospects, it could go either way.
The players other than Dubi, Girardi and Cally have value but not the value needed to bring back a Horton or Weiss.
Sangs at this moment seems more like a throw-in since he hasn't had a chance to prove anything as of yet. Same with Sauer and to a lesser extent, Gilroy. Sure there is value in them, but they are still prospects. Need more than that to land a package of the FL players.
More realistic is one of them from FL for a package from NY.
One thing I've learned from being around here for about ten years is that nobody sitting in front of a computer here really has a clue what players are truly worth. Everytime one of these speculation threads comes up, both sides argue that the other teams prospects suck and there's are the future of their franchise. Then the deal happens and everybody is way off base. We as fans see only the tip of the iceberg, where GMS see everything. They know who's a jerk in the lockerroom, who's hanging out until last call, who has bad work habits, they know it all. Those factors have immense impact, but are all but invisible to the common fan.
I'd like to see something with substance (e.g., names) and a source, since some 'sources' were kinda/sorta cited. It needs to be one or the other-- a fan proposing something or a trade rumor with link.
