Good deal for Atlanta. I never thought much of Lehtonen and now that he is injury prone, its not much better. Clears the way for Pavelec to play and they get a decent prospect for Vishnevskiy.

who the hell is gonna play goal for Dallas? I mean i dont expect Lehtonen to just become non-injury prone... in fact, hes probably gonna become more injury prone (if thats even possible) due to the extra fatigue from traveling!

Good question. I dunno, all I know is that i'm hoping its one team that is worse than the Oilers next year. Vishnevskiy was rated the best prospect by HF in Dallas, it tells you the cupboards are pretty bare in Dallas.

You do realize that Alex Auld has been the #1 there for over a month now?

Expect to see Turco moved at the deadline for a fair return.

Chicago, Detroit, Washington, Tampa and Philly seeming like the most likely destinations to me.

Chicago makes a ton of sense. Rental, but they can move out a bigger salary.

Could one argue that this is why a team should never pick young goalies with a top 3 pick? Everyone thought Lehtonen was a shoo-in to be a great goaltender, now look at him.

Young goalies are such a wild card in their development, IMO it's not something you ever use such a valuable pick on.

This probably seems ludicrous, but Atlanta could be a great dance partner for the Oilers. Hell, given their room and need for players they might even take Horcoff's deal.

Not even joking, would Atlanta consider:

Horcoff, Cogliano/O'Sullivan and Pisani

for

Todd White, 2nd round pick, 4th round pick

Atlanta is 16 points ahead of us with a game in hand...we just lost another 6-1 beauty to Phoenix. Do you really believe we're going to pull out of it at this point?

It's a good return for Waddell, Vishnevsky is a good prospect and picking up an additional fourth for a goalie that hasn't played a game all this year is pretty shrewd. Good for him and the Thrashers.

You're kidding, right?

Do you really think the Oilers are going to gain at least 16 points on Atlanta over their remaining 24 games (Atlanta has 25 left)? The way Edmonton is stumbling all over the ice, the Thrashers could go on a 25 game losing streak to finish the season...and the Oilers would STILL finish worse. Seriously.

Edit: I see Shizuka beat me to it. Fie!

Lehtonen to Dal for Vishnevsky and a pick appears to be tentatively done, pending completion of Dal-Chi. Not official yet tho.

Domino's baby, domino's! LOL

There's been enough trade activity over the last month or so that there are no excuses left for Tambellini. Do SOMETHING for ****s sake

Don't fret, he'll get right on that...he just needs more time to figure out what he has here.

Evaluation is a fine art. It mainly requires patience and, well, patience.

As GM of a team that's 7 points below 29th, with the exact same roster that got a top-10 pick last year - yes, I think Tambo should be feeling a ton of pressure right now. This roster is full of **** and Tambellini's got less than a week to move the players that buyers might be interested in. Not one Oilers fan should be OK with this complacency, we've known for almost a year that trades need to be made.

Emery might need surgery. Turco to Philly could make sense.

As always you have to make the salaries fit.

Maybe something like Hartnell for Turco? If Emery is having surgery, Philly could sign Turco to a 4 year 18M deal in the summer. Turco is not a 5+M tender, but he's still very good.
