I wouldn't go so far, but it's worth noting that the Rangers score 2.54 goals per game, which isn't that far off from the 2.44 and 2.50 from previous years (and those were under Sather, not Tortorella!).

1. Gainey is still here, he'll have more time to chat with the players now.
2. How can you possibly mention Gorges and not slip in a Kelowna reference?

Souray wanted to be a #1
Komi a #2
and
Streit a #2 or 3

Plekanec will surely ask to be a #1
and Gauthier won't refuse that.
If he refuses, that's a big fail.
Good words. I don't see Tomas going anywhere else either.

With what was said today, I get the impression that Tomas is going to be signed very soon here, at least just before the playoffs.

?

Marc Savard's best goal scoring year in career was in 05-06, he had 28 goals. Plekanec had 29 in 07-08. Plekanec has scored more goals in the last four years than Savard, who has never been one of the top goal scorers in the league.

You probably meant "playmaker", I really hope thats what you meant...

Well, yes he is, Plekky is definitely one of the most underated player in the league... and by his own fan base also.

Except Plek has had stellar good season and it's this year. Savard is almost always in the top ten league scorers every season.

Well to be fair, Savard had his boost at 28. Plekanec is only 27 now.

Wow, that actually makes the Gomez is completely useless posts look somewhat sane. Nice work, way to rationalize away your insecurities re Gomez. No one prior mentioned Gaborik in this thread as far as I can tell.

It's a tough one. He's definitely making a case for himself this season, but is this year more of a fluke or was last year's 39pts a fluke? If the team commits long term, you gotta hope he's going to stay around the same level of production if he gets good icetime (say 60-70 pts) a year.

BOOM...nice

also as for playmaking, assists don't always tell the whole story. Watch how Pleky plays with and without the puck. IMO as good if not a better playmaker.

I don't know why people think he is worth 5 million plus. He is a great center but lets not forget his 39 points last season, which should also factor in to his next contract

false. he was traded to dallas and performed. He was, at that time, the only ''possible'' replacement for modano within the organization ... thats why they threw money to ensure they'd keep him ... if im not mistaken, he never was ufa at all.

as for plekanec ... I'd love to see him sign here for ~4.5 M for 5-6 years. and I think is doable.

Ok... And who do we have other than Gomez? Plekanec is the only possible replacement for himself in the organisation at the moment.

Tanguay, Kovalev, Souray and Komisarek all said the same thing.

Where are they now?

Don't remember Souray, but Komisarek always avoided the question in his last year, Kovalev would have been a hab again but he ****ed up and Tanguay wasn't given an offer.
