I think Turco is only 34 too, he could come in do well, and we could maybe get him at 3yrs @ 4 mill a year if he likes it here ????
But to even make it work, for sure Danny or Harts has to go the other way. And as GKJ said earlier, if Rayzor is on LTIR for the rest of the year, HArts straight up gets it done salary wise ?
As frustrating as Hartnell is he still has upside. Briere is all downside at his age.
Hartnell's size and feistiness is important to our group of forwards. Without him we're smurf city.
Briere makes one or two brilliant plays every other game, beyond that it's all 'too small to forecheck' or 'too disinterested to backcheck' or 'too easy to knock off the puck.'
If we can dump Briere's contract on ANYONE, it will be a miracle.
Perhaps expand the deal to include a prospect from each team?
If not for the NMC clauses, I'd find the rumor plausible. Be totally awesome to get rid of briere or hartnell's contract. Actually give them some flexibility to improve the team this off season. They are in dire need of offense.
*holy crap, biron just won a shootout, although erat made him look out to lunch on one.
Interesting. Sucks that Emery has been in and out and it has to come down to looking at other options. Turco may very well be the best goaltender available before the deadline. Montreal seems comfortable with a tandem competing for time. Vokoun would be my ideal goaltender for the Flyers, but why would Florida trade him? I'm not sure they're ready to give the reigns to Markstrom just yet.
Turco has been below average at best, flat-out bad at worst during the past few regular seasons. Seems to me he had some pretty epic goaltending duals in the playoffs 2 years ago though.
If the deal extends beyond dealing just for Turco, Dallas has quite a few forwards that would look good coming our way.
Curious to see how our goaltending plays out. I have a hunch they may shake up the offense a bit in the same deal if they can.
I wouldn't mind Emery + Briere For Turco. Swap Hartnell for Briere if either he or Dallas says no.
Not that I think Turco is some sort of savior, but he is expiring money and a lateral move to Emery IMO. And cap space is being committed to both of those guys (Hartnell and Briere) that might be better used elsewhere going forward.
Not to mention, this move would most likely be completed if and only if Emery is to be out long term due to this injury. There is absolutely no reason for Dallas to take back another goalie in this deal. Frankly, if we can move Briere to get this deal done, I am all for it. If it is Hartnell, I am a bit more apprehensive. I still think he is a quality top 6 winger who may be having an off year.
Remember, the Stars are in the middle of a possible sale, and have no desire to take back big money, which is why the Briere deal, while I support, doesn't really make too much sense.
