I heard that on the way home today. So it seems they're keeping the name until they find something else.

I've been calling it "The Den" for a while now so I guess I'll continue. Same way I still call LP Field "The Coliseum."

You can only change names so many times before people just pick a name and stick with it. I know people who still call it the GEC.

I call it The Sommet. The proposed nicknames always felt too forced and cheesy to me.

I like "The Den" a lot. I am boring and just called it "Sommet." At least I don't call it "Summit" like I hear people do. I'm not particularly fond of the name but it could be worse and so I'd rather keep it and be safe than us get something like Jobbing.com Arena. Ouch.

I'm guessing Sommet paid a lump "settlement," rather than to continue to pay monthly. Either way, hopefully they find something\someone else, soon.

Anyone else think that the arena will soon grace the name of either AT&T or Nissan?

Notice the recent addition of a lot of Nissan advertising? 2nd period replays, the Leaf appearance.. I'm hoping for Nissan Place or Nissan Center.

Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. (Bridgestone Tires) has registered several "BridgestoneArena, BridgestoneCenter, BridgestoneTireCenter,BridgestoneTireArena, etc" domain names over the last couple of weeks. Somebody told me this had happened, but I thought it was an unsubstantiated rumor---until there was a blurb in the TennRag today. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20...local+identity

Yeah, SLake and I were holding off on posting anything on this till something more tangable showed up. With the Rag article and the website domain hoarding the smoke from the (Tire) fire is getting too think to ignore. Bridgestone is a solid, local company. They have MASSIVELY increased their sports presence and marketing. Not just hockey but they were all over the Super Bowl too.

I've got Bridgestones on the 4Runner and on the Honda. I've done my part, now how about my free tickets?

I think Bridgestone would be a great partner! But then, I may also be a little biased. (get it.. ok, seriously though)

I hope it's Bridgestone Arena, that sounds better than Bridgestone Center.

Bridgestone Tire Center sounds like... well, the place you get your tires changed. I'm going to agree on Bridgestone Arena, although I think we could do better. Perhaps a nickname:

The Tire Barn
Whitewall Place
Blowout Center
Recycling Nightmare Arena
The Innertube
Not Nothing Center (you have to work through this one on your own)

Or an international flavor:

Casa de Llanta
Puente-piedra Plaza

So this secures the Preds in Nashville for awhile right? So the Hamiltonians can shut up right?

No, nothing will solidify the Predators long-term in Nashville until we can put 17,113 butts in the stands every night. Until then, we will continue to fight to stabilize the franchise on a year-to-year basis...I hate to write that, but it is the honest reality of the situation...

...and even then they wouldn't shut up.

At one point during this summer BFC and I were discussing taking a special trip up north to blow up Copps. I'm not so sure now if it'd help much outside of cathartic value.

I COULD talk about what I might have or might not have done to Copps but I'm a mod now so I'm supposed to show professionalism.

considering this is a gate driven league, they would pretty much have to shut the **** up on that issue
