Well Gauthier said that he will not make big splash and won't trade any goaltender because it's the strenght of the organization. I would like a move like a prospect + a pick for a guy like Raffi Torres.

That would be sweet but if we have to give up a goalie there's always Markstrom that could be thrown in the deal.

ok, this is some weird ****...

Yvon Pednault, who doesn't usually ramble around about false rumours all that much, said, just before being cut by Michel Villeneuve (for the commercial break, and then pednault was gone)

"look out for Nathan Horton this week".

that's all he said.

but the fact that Ek also reports it, linked to the habs and that Martin had the hugest ***** on Horton... there might be some meat to the bone.

I for one would be totally ecstatic.

Man I love the Habs!

Horton would be sweet. I can't imagine what would go the other way!

Pednault is most probably Eklund's source, Pednault used to blog on his site.

Why would Florida need a goalie now or in the future though, the have a good goalie and a Markstrom. I don't know what they need but we don't need another goalie prospect at this point.

I'm not saying go after Markstrom but if Florida has a hard on for Price, Montreal can always ask for Markstrom in return in any deal they would make.

Personally I would rather keep Price, I'm a huge fan and think he'll be a superstar in this league.
Hopefully for the Bleu Blanc Rouge!

He also said "never say never"

At this very moment he's happy with the strength of the position, but it also tells me that his hook is in the water and if something bites it's getting reeled in. I always trusted Gainey's word, but he was full of it too. I don't blame him, in Montreal you always have to pick and choose your words. Whatever. If the right deal comes up one of the goalies is gone. Please don't be surprised if it happens soon and call "The Goat" a liar. It was the right thing to say at the moment.

Get Artyukhin and Torres or Ott. Big move would be Mueller or Horton, but I highly doubt it.

Artyukhin would be sweet for the third line

Horton has a broken leg and isn't expected back till March sometime.

I can't see Montreal trading a goalie for him. Florida only has 4 Dmen under contract for next year, with two pending UFA's in Leopold and Seidenberg. Maybe Montreal can work a deal with former Panther Spacek involved to give Florida a signed Dman and a forward or prospect?

Florida maybe trying to drop salary on the cap for next year as they have some UFA's and some young RFA's like Mcardle, Campbell, Tarnasky and Garrison. Not to mention some potential graduates like Kulikov, Ellerby and Repik making the jump.

Whats the third line? Looks more like a fourth liner with upside. Good upside granted.

can't see the Panthers ready to give up on him at this point... he was on pace for his best season, production-wise, and he's playing over 20min/game for Deboer.

that said, if the "price is right" (pun intended, but no, i don't want to see price traded for him), he might be a great fit up front.

big body, goal scorer, not as consistent physically as you'd like for a guy with his "gabarit", and if Martin has a good feel for him than it could be a good fit.

i'd love to know what Martin thinks of his desire to get into the playoffs. because he's never tasted them as a Pro, either he's ok with that, or it's eating up inside... i want to be sure it's the latter.

Cammalleri-Pleks-A.Kost
Pouliot- Gomez- Horton
MaxPac- Lapierre/Maxwell*- Gionta
Moen- White- Lapierre/Pyatt

* i'd rather a UFA centre that's either physical or great in the faceoff circle (maholtra), but if maxwell makes some strides in this years AHL playoffs/in the summer, he might be ready for that role...

The more I think about things....the more I feel the Kostitsyn's (both) may be heading out of town. We'll see.

Why do you feel that? What reason other than a guess makes you think they are on the way out? Are you sure that what you're feeling isn't just indigestion?

Mueller would be a great pick up,but I'm pretty sure he won't come cheap despite him not having that great of a year.

Gionta-Gomez-Mueller would be a really nice line going forward

forward
A soft, underachieving player who has questionable work ethic? I'm surprised you see him as a possible 'great' pick up, when it seems he is living off of his first round status more than anything.

Or, am I getting the wrong idea of Mueller?

I guess we could transform this thread in "Post all Habs rumors here" since now we have some Marinaro, Pedeneault, Eklund and so on. For whoever don't want to see Eklund having a thread under his name, still you'd be able to talk about it. And be able to add everything else as well. Rumors that will concern the Habs though.
