OK, so Klein shoots the puck, it's deflected and he isn't credited with an assist or the goal???

Wow, Wardo gets away with interference at center ice, then go on the PP with Potter going to the box for interfering with Tootoo...

From the way they scored that it had to have hit a lot of people on the way in. Klein took the shot and didn't even get a point???

Erat tries to pass through the box to Sullivan, pass deflected out to the point, Weber lone man back gets caught in between, Dubinsky tips it past Weber and heads in on a breakaway...Sully hustles back and gets enough of Dubinsky to allow Ellis to make the save...Sully to the box for holding...

4 on 4 to start the second period...

Predators lead 1-0...

I'm tired of refs calling what they think they saw or calling a penalty because it sort of looked like maybe that's what happened. Either you saw it or you didn't, but that was obviously not holding. Sullivan's free hand was behind the player. If you want to call it a hook it would at least make more sense. (It wasn't a hook either)

Anyway, Weber don't try to play the puck at the blueline when no one else is there to drop back for you. You have to drop back and be prepared to play the man. Force a dump in, regroup, break back in, set up again.

Definitely didn't hit Ward, maybe Tootoo, but more likely a Ranger...think it'll be changed to either Tootoo from Klein and Legwand or Klein from Tootoo and Legwand eventually...

Didn't think it was all that bad of a call. Sullivan reached around or over Dubinsky's shoulder and pulled back on him, breaking Dubinsky's stride. That's definitely a penalty on the road, on a shorthanded breakaway...lucky it wasn't a penalty shot IMO...

I'm just thrilled that we got the first goal! And being up feels so good.
I really wanted it to be Klein's goal, but he at least better get an assist out of that...

Been checking the other games going on now to see what the weather is doing to the crowds. New Jersey is empty but Wash is full. N.J. is giving a 50% credit for another home game. Columbus is normal but I don't think they are having the crazy storm. My daughter goes to school there and says it isn't bad. MSG seems a little light but they have a more pedestrian crowd.

I'm going to reserve comment until after the game but two things really bugged me that period.

1) Going almost a full four minutes on the PP before getting a shot. Not good.

2) Belak/Wilson/Smithson? Are you freaking kidding me? I have been pretty kind to the neck this year but this irritates the stew out of me and I'll tell all of you why. I know you're dying for the answer. Why bring up guys from Milwaukee if you're not going to play them in a similar role with the big club? I understand why Wilson got limited time last night but he's a top 6 forward, put him in a top 6 forward role, plain and simple.

Expanding on my Torts got Trotz comment earlier...

Torts had word put out this afternoon that either Brashear or Voros was going to be in the lineup tonight for the Rangers. Trotz responded by dressing Belak, but has to turn in his lineup card first being the road team. Torts saw Belak in the Nashville lineup and decided to keep him on the bench and go with 11 forwards and 7 defensemen tonight because ultimately scratching Brashear would mean that the Predators were stuck with 11 forwards and 6 defensemen tonight...

Torts pulled a fast one on Trotz tonight...

This is exactly how I feel about it. It's stupid. I don't understand why Trotz does this?

Much better. Not giving Klein as much as an assist on the initial goal was really odd...

Giving up 2 breakaways in one period is bad, right?

Three breakaways thus far this period!!! No goals!!! Five brilliant chances...no goals!!!

Gotta bury some of these chances...can't let the Rangers hang around...if they want to continue giving us the rope to do it...gotta string them up and kick away the stool...

Brilliant chances...wouldn't want to be on the Rangers' bench during this TV timeout...will be interesting to see how they respond...

Gotta give that one to Hamhuis. No way he shouldn't have cleared the zone on that. He had plenty of time.
