European Union lawyer: foreign player quota might disappear


This is about soccer players but if it becomes official it would probably influence all pro sports within the EU, including hockey.

Well, the EU again wants to decide on matters they aren't responsible for. They can't do anything about foreigner-restrictions, because states outside of the EU aren't members of the Union and therefore don't have the rights all EU-members have.

Some leagues wouldn't be bothered by this anyway, as they voluntarily decided to regulate the number of foreigners, something the EU can't prevent.
