Tootoo (6), O'Reilly (5), Bouillon (5), and Wilson (4) combined for 20 of our 36 shots tonight...great to see solid contributions from the secondary scoring options tonight, but really shows why we need to add a scorer...Tootoo with three point-blank chances, O'Reilly with a breakaway and a couple other point-blank opportunities...need someone that can consistently put the puck behind the goalie...
Oh and Ellis. Man oh man. Dan was the man tonight, no doubt. He stood on his head there.
Speaking of Dan, he's like a kid in a candy store in NYC. He was trying to find the Cash Cab last night. Could you imagine him on Cash Cab? I hope he finds it.
And I love the tweet he just did a few minutes ago:
Booyah!!! Always more fun enjoying a city after a win. Time to take a bite out of the big apple...thats gay but I had to say it!
He's so hilarious!
So freakin' excited about this win tonight! As everyone has said, Elly played phenomenal and we deserved this win. I'm thrilled for Wilson getting a goal tonight! That must feel really good to have one after being up for only two games. We done good, Preds. My fandom has been restored after last night's sorry attempt at a hockey game. Three out of four points thus far isn't bad. I can now study for my marketing test with a smile on my face.
Was Goc back in the lineup tonight? Or is he still nursing that injury?
As SabreTooth said, Goc did not play tonight and the hope is to have him rejoin the team for Friday's game...however, he was sent back to Nashville either yesterday or today for treatment on the injury...so things are not looking good for him thus far...
Really hope he is healthy enough to play in the Olympics, but...not at the expense of the rest of his season with the Predators...
Hey guys. Sounds like Wilson had a helluva game, just wondering if there were any thoughts on whether he's fitting in better at centre or on the wing.
Concerned Fantasy Wilson Owner (aka E-Mac)
Started the game at center, but was quickly moved to wing when Trotz benched Belak and started rolling 11 forwards...
Honestly, he is better suited right now to play wing due to the depth we have at center right now in the top 9. In order to play on a scoring line, Wilson's best bet for this season at least is to move to the wing as he did for much of the night yesterday...
Smithson (lower body injury) is expected to have x-rays today. With Goc still back in Nashville as of last night, I would hope that keeps Wilson on the wing on a scoring line and necessitates the recall of Nick Spaling to play fourth line center instead of trying to pigeon hole Wilson down in that hole...
Sullivan - Arnott - Hornqvist
Wilson - Legwand - Ward
Dumont - O'Reilly - Erat
Jones - Spaling - Tootoo
SLake, personally, I'd roll out Wilson between Erat and Tootoo. They looked pretty darn good out there. Move Dumont up to play with Legwand and Ward and see if we can get that line going. We still have good defensive responsibility with Ward and Legwand so that doesn't worry me. Then call up Spalling and put him on wing with Jones and have O'Reilly center that line. I'd much prefer that to be honest with you.
Ellis was on top of it last night and I'm sure he has earned the start on Friday night. I don't have a problem with that at all. But I hope he takes hold against NJ because if we get back to the rotation, how far can the Preds go. On that same front, this game probably locked up keeping both goalies and not trading one at the deadline. As much as they have wanted to lean on Rinne lately, Ellis continues to stay in the mix.
If you put it like that I would have to choose Kate over toe-thumb. Also Kate is able to hold a conversation.
I don't disagree.
But here is the deal, Nashville has two starting goaltenders on their team. That isn't good for either of these guys. I think it is great for the team, but I have to question what kind of effect it has on Rinne and Ellis. If you had to tell me I had to keep one and trade the other I couldn't tell you which one I would rather have to be honest.

I agree. I think that's mostly because of the lack of consistency this season. I think both of them could carry the Preds in the playoffs if on their game. But it seems like every time one of them have a game like Ellis did last night, they soon have a game where they let a bad one in early. Then that just causes Trotz to go to the other guy.
I think with the break coming and the trade deadline right after, that both will be staying for the rest of the season. I can't imagine either one would bring us a good enough return that would help the Preds now.
