The worst thing about this is people are starting to think Colton Orr is a decent hockey player again.

Both guys are/were awful.

Or it's because he just wants off of a sinking ship.

I bet he would be keeping his mouth shut if he was still on the Caps right now and had a chance to win a cup.

He said last year when his season w the Caps was coming to an end that he might go play in Russia. He was learning Russian then. And some teams from the KHL contacted him bec they are trying to incorporate fighting in the KHL. Chris Simons plays over there. It was his second choice after the NHL. But I guess if he can't get ice time AND a big paycheck he will try his luck over there. The grass is always greener somewheres else.

Agreed. Great point. He's not talented enough to get a huge paycheck, lots of ice time, and be on a team contending for the Cup. And that is just the brakes for him. Has he met himself?

I think that's an unfair stretch to make from the comments he made.

Not really, they are more or less a wash when it comes to actually playing hockey.

It's more because Orr "breaks faces" or whatever.

Both are awful investments. The Rangers one just ends sooner.

Here's the difference; Orr isnt over 35. That alone makes any Brashear contract that much worse.

I think it has to be part of the reason.
He's on one of the worst teams in the league and is still not seen as worthy of any ice time.
It's a pride thing, like you said.

BUT... I'm sure that he would gladly sit in the press box most nights and hang on for the ride if he thought the team would be contending in the playoffs.
I think this factored in with Kotalik wanting out as well.

It's just a bad atmosphere over there right now, you can tell that there are no positive expectations among the players.

Good news, huggybear wants out. The feeling is mutual, we wanted him out since the minute he signed.

Oh boy... remember when we signed him and Torts said that we dumped Orr and "upgraded" to huggy, because he thought huggy was more skillful and could be used in more game situations? Great gut call, coach...

I think this one is more on Torts than Sather, but hey, it's not like Sather needs any more examples to be fired anyway.

It is not a stretch bec last season before free agency started. He was asked if he would re-sign w the Caps. And his answer was basically "I can get paid less and go for the glory and try to win the Cup bec I think the Caps will win within the next two years. Or I can go for the pay. And at my age I have a family to think about." And by the end of last season w the Caps he was rarely dressing. But he wasn't complaining.

Sather is going to have a lot of trouble finding someone to take his contract. And him.

We should keep signing UFA's, it is working out great. We are operating at about a 10% success rate when it comes to UFA's. It is amazing the sense of entitlement these guys have.
Well this franchise has become a joke... you can't even argue it, anymore. Sather has disgraced us once again.

I'm starting to lose interest...very quickly...

Good riddance to the most hated Ranger since Phil Esposito. What a stupid idea to sign this guy. Another epic fail by Glen Sather.

The guy can hit and, unlike Orr, he is solid on the skates without holding the opponents collar. Torts doesn't have a concept of shutdown line, he let Sjostrom and Betts go therefore. Brash was Orr upgrade within Renney's concept, not Torts. That is where Slats was confused, not the first time, though. If Rangers take some salary back, there will be enough takers for him.

We all knew acquiring Prust meant Huggy would never play again. I think he realized that as well. Nonetheless, I'm ecstatic that he requested a trade. Give Slats some incentive to get him off our hands.

Very few. Most of us realize he has very little hockey ability, but he understood his role with the team, worked his ass off, showed appreciation for being on the team, and took each opportunity to play as a reward and not an expectation. There were spans where he would not play for 8-10 games, yet he did not complain once.

Brashear demands a trade and then feels like management owes him playing time? Who the **** does he think he is, Ray Bourque?
