I believe Prust acquisition took place AFTER Brash asked for the trade. He did it together with Kotalik, I guess. Those requests were referred by Torts as a cloud over the team.

In all fairness, our coach at that time was a complete *********(same guy who fell out with Roy), but yes Brash has looked bad in the few Ranger games I've watched this year, kind of like how Laraque was for us.

An in his prime Brashear, or hell, even Brashear from last year, is 100% an upgrade over Orr from an on-ice point of view (lockerroom/good teammate issues are another story). Orr cannot play, it's just a fact. Brashear, up until this year, absolutely could play the game well enough to deserve 4th line minutes on basically every NHL team. Age caught up with him this year, and now Brashear can't play either. This wouldn't really be a big deal if he was on a one year contract like he should be, but add that to the growing pile of Slats' mistakes.

Huggy Bear has been on a consistent decline though for the past several years....Sather never seems to read these things whatsoever...

It might have something to do with the fact that he's the worst GM in hockey? Just a thought...

...Late to the party. Still, good to be here though.

Brashear, buh-bye.

Q: Who thought this was a stupid move? A: Every Rangers fan alive.

Q: Who thought this was a smart move? A: Glen Sather and John Tortorella.

Nice...

Brashear demands a trade and then feels like management owes him playing time? Who the **** does he think he is, Ray Bourque?
Thank you...Orr was an awful hockey player but a great goon and played with dignity and treated his opponent with respect...all these guys crying about goons in hockey should just watch a different sport because you calling for the end of them but the majority of the teams have at least one...they aren't going anywhere...get over it.

Not sure what this does, unless they're hoping someone is foolish enough to pick him up.

Isn't that why the drury lovers love him...because he is a good locker room guy.

I would take Orr anyday of the week over Brashear..Brashear was always a guy who would run players and Orr plays with respect

I guess Sather isn't going to tolerate players publicly demanding a trade and decreasing their trade value.

I would waive him too. If you want to be traded keep it private. Brash ain't no Dany Heatley - can't get away with it.

Is there any chance in hell that someone picks him up off waivers?

It's not just the cap hit that's the issue, it's that he has one more year to his contract after this one. He can't even do his job now so I can't imagine that will improve once he's pushing 39 next year.

Or maybe Sather shopped him around and nobody wanted him...

Basically forcing Brashear's hand. If a team doesn't pick him up for free, it tells Donald that not only isn't he in the plans for this year, but he isn't going to play for the Rangers next year.

If another team doesn't have interest in Brashear, the Rangers are hoping for a hail-mary where Brashear goes to Russia next year, and relieving the Rangers of the cap hit.

So can any capologists clarify, If Brashear clears waivers and goes to Hartford, does he still count against the Rangers cap as an over 35 signee?

Thanks
