We have a weak system in a lot of areas, defense isnt one of them.
I dont know. There have been times where we look lost in our own end. But the main glaring problem is that none of our defenders seem to want to get physical or can get physical with opposing forwards. Not saying Potter is the meanest of defenseman, but he definitely couldnt hurt that area. We need to be able to knock guys off the puck more. I feel as if our most offensive minded defenseman, Del Zotto, tries to take the body more than anyone else.

So far the defensive system I have observed is a three tier system. It's a dynamic combination of having absolutely no idea when to pinch, crapping their pants at the slightest sign of contact and blindly throwing the puck along the walls and slot in a panic.
Recently the system has been adjusted to include spectating as your star player takes a beating. A little more work in this at practice and it can be incorporated into the defensive system and make it flawless.

You're kidding, right? Our defense stinks. What games are you watching? Nobody ever clears the crease. Even Staal has lost his edge. What is so difficult about taking the man in front and letting them know you're there? This team should be sponsored by Hostess. Potter never got a fair shake. He was recalled last year and outplayed Tinman, who somehow gets a regular shift despite being washed up. Put Potter on another team and he'll stick bc they'll actually play him instead of screwing him over. They screwed Ivan Baranka, wasted Sauer and are screwing Heineken, who will go back home. And should we mention Sangs? Could he be any worse than R & R? It's what this organization does. They have no concept.
yes redden and rosi are overpaid, its been beaten to death, but they're NHL defensemen....Potter is not (not yet at least)

my judgement from what i saw of him last year, preseason, and last night is that he's not there
people are ridiculous in their judgement of Rosi and Redden....especially Rosi recently
looking past their contracts, they're not as horrible as people make them out to be
Why are you guys arguing over Potter/Rosi/Reds for? The OP was just saying that Potter and Johnson went down and Zapa came up.

Sheesh. Maybe the trade freeze and trade deadline has everyone anxious and you guys are taking it out on each other a little too much? Go outside, take a walk around the block a few times. Get yourself a good old fashioned Peanut Butter And Jelly Sandwich, a COLD Glass of Milk (and for all the lactose intolerant people like myself, use Lactaid Milk. Its pretty good) and sit at the table and just let your thoughts go while you bite into the deliciousness they call PB&J
I wish we would just give this Potter guy 12 games to show if he can stick or not. Sauer as well......it's time to ****t or get off the pot with some of these guys.

Girardi is a 3rd pair guy being overused
Gilroy's only asset is his skating, I wouldnt cry if he left.
All in all, our pro defense is bottom half. But our D has the potential to be very good in 2-3 years if we stick to our guns.
And no, Potter isnt better than Rozsival, thats just assanine.
