Whats the Deal with Leino?

Has Homer or some media sources given any indication as to why he's been kept as a healthy scratch since being acquired by the Flyers?

Laviolette said he isn't changing the lineup right now.

the deal is who does he replace? Good for the coach not to buckle and play him just because they just traded for him. He is a depth guy. I am sure when he gets in he will score a goal and everyone will be all over his jock.

I think part of it is Laviolette sending a message that he'll decide who plays and where. He knows that he needs Gagne and Hartnell confident and productive for the playoffs, and maybe thinks that dropping them down or even sitting them for Leino would be a blow.

Let's face it, Leino wasn't acquired to save the season or anything. He was a cheap pick-up with skill. He's got more offensive upside than Pyorala, so he makes for a better spare forward.

The deal with Leino is that Homer just wanted to get rid of Wolfy on the Flyers board on HFboards. He didn't want us suffering anymore. Also, he couldn't believe that a team would actually trade for OKT.

Does Grand Rapids have a team board?

i posted this on another board, so I'll post it here too:

Most of you guys looked too far into the trade.

It was made simply because we needed depth on the wing, and we had a surplus of defenseman. OKT fell down the depth chart, while players like Syvret, Bartulis & Parent all passed him. We also brought in Krajicek. With a healthy line-up if we would have kept OKT, we would have had 9 NHL defenseman.

Compare that to our forwards...we lose a scorer, and we're basically ****ed.

Homer brought in forward depth at the expense of our 9th defenseman.

Once we need a shake up or somebody goes down because of injury he'll probably be in there, but as of right all the lines are producing and everyone is healthy so there is really no need for him.

From the look of things around here, OKT doesn't sound much like an NHL defenseman.

Also, the Wings traded Leino for the Flyers' 5th rounder and agreed to take OKT and waive him. OKT was pretty much unrelated as far as the Wings were concerned.

Dumping Leino for a 5th is a big win for the Wings. Has he started whining about not playing enough in Philly yet? After he gets into the lineup he'll be whining about how he's not getting to play with good enough players. I don't know what the Flyers were hoping to accomplish with this trade, other than to get rid of Wolfy.

Carcillo might be out next time, so we might see leino.

Hopefully he's had a few practices to learn the system
