wow congrats to you guys. you may not remember, but I was the first NYR fan to come over here and tell you that you got a real heart and soul guy, when you signed him. I'm really happy for Bettsy, that's he's put it all out on the line for you guys the way he did for us.

Keep in mind also, Blair Betts played his best hockey in the PLayoffs. The guy was the best shutdown center in this division not named John Madden.

Our first first round sweep against ATL, Betts played again the Hossa/Kovalchuk line in all our home games, and I've never seen a player work so hard and play so smart shift after shift. Sure Lundy robbed that sweep for us, but Betts singlehandedly forced ATL to break up ther dynamic duo, after 3 games in and only a small handful of scoring chances for either of those two juggernauts.

If we manage to fight our way in (or the rest of the east drops dead, and allows us 7th or 8th, the last thing I want to see is Betts against Gaborik.

PLayoff time, Betts singlehandedly makes opposing superstars go completely cold. Hell he was our Deon Sanders. heh

He's earned more than he's going to get paid. From a cap standpoint I love it, and I'm glad he likes it enough here to take that. Amazing how he could get so overlooked in the offseason. 4th line center hasn't been a strong position for us for the last several years, glad to hopefully have some stability there now!

Now if we could sign Carcillo to a similar contract, I'll be extra happy.

Carcillo would have to take less for a similar contract. I'm sure he's looking for at least $1M.

1. And he's been nothing short of that. Philly loves this guy.

2. Good to know, hopefully the Flyers actually make it though. Tight race for 6-8.

3. I wouldn't worry. I think the Flyers are gonna finish in the 6-8 spot, so if the Rangers sneak in too it'll be unlikely.

It's always baffles me how Holmgren gives out great contracts like this one and then gives out the Randy Jones deal or refuses to even try to resign Biron.

Man we got seriously hosed on this deal. It's not like betts is any good for this team, killing penalties, chipping in goals, playing great defense. Generally doing pretty much what we need at all times.

I think he is fairly compensated with the new deal, especially when you account for his propensity to get injured. He wins faceoffs, plays great defense, pots an occassional goal, and doesn't visit the sin bin very often.

Why, thank you ma'am...your avatar is an awesome picture as well. Out of curiosity...what's it gonna take for Richards to get the bag off? Are you waiting to see if he brings home the Gold? Yeah, that's it isn't it...he'll still be stuck with the bag if he comes home with Silver, huh?

I love that avatar. Cracks me up whenever I see it.

On topic: Betts still gives me a Bro-ner.

LOL - I haven't really thought about removing the bag - they've been playing well since, so I'm leery of jinxing it! Guess it's probably about time...

I'll have to find a pic of Richie in his team Canada gear, and when he comes home with the gold, I'll just update it!
