Maybe the Canadiens claimed Micheal Leighton on waivers?

Likely just to talk about Moore deal, but you never know.
What a joke! They need to hold a press conference for a marginal 3rd line player that they overpaid for.

Martin will be the new GM, Gauthier will step down and assume coaching duties, Gainey transfers from advisor to assistant GM...

Boivin in nets tonight, Gainey as coach, Martin as GM and Gauthier with the hot dog gun.

I think he'll say he's done and feels he's confident in this team for the playoffs. (In other words : Gainey redux)

This sounds about right. He will also add that in Moore we have acquired a solid piece who knows what it takes to travel light.

So you think a GM in this league will all out not listen to any offers he is given come deadline day? that doesnt make any sense at all...especially 3 weeks ahead

Just thought of another potential motive here. Maybe he'll spend the whole press conference publicly berating that "journalist" behind the Frolov stuff.

"Did you actually think that we'd get Frolov for Weber and D'agostini? Have you ever watched hockey before? Let's all point and laugh at this guy!" and so on.

It's a conference of reassurance that a 2nd rounder for Moore is a better deal than 2nd rounder + Picard for Cullen

He's going to go through each transaction in the last 24 hours to tell us why his deal is the best

Yep. He'll also announce he won't pick up the phone during this period to avoid temptations.

This is getting ridiculous already. Why would you be calling a press conference in philly? When he gets back to Montreal, hes going to get eaten alive.

Its not even been a week and I hate everything about the way he is handling himself and all these silly moves.

People will be begging for Gainey's professionalism by end of next week, I cant believe its a 3-ring circus already after 5 days !

I like how people are *****ing about the presser if it's only about Moore. Didn't people want Gainey to have press conferences for every little move he made? Heh

Which is good news for us. He probably said he is done and hope that we will make the playoff thanks to his new acquisition: D. Moore.

Is it a "Press conference" or he will only stop by to meet the media? Huge difference there...

I am not one of these people. Only in Montreal, a press conference is given for the acquisition of a 3rd line player. Who really care? Moore is not the one who is going to put our team on top.

I swear to god...sometimes I can't believe how pathetic it gets in here sometimes.

Are we to the point that we have nothing more productive to post about than freaking press conferences??

...also people have been whining all year on how our "bottom 6" has underperformed, well Gauthier goes out and adds a player that greatly upgrade them, adding a strong faceoff, checking and PK presence...but people whine at how it's not a "big acquisition".

Downright sad...

I guess when you hate someone that much anything seems malicious and crazy doesn't it?
