I need to see what round pick this is before I have any feelings on this. If it is a 7th round pick, then it is a nothing move. I don't see us making the playoffs this year so we can finish off this painful season punching people.

Fine. All the easier to pound Jeff Carter or Simon Gagne.

Probably a pick for the 2013 draft. Sather is gambling on the fact the world is going to end in 2012, thus making this deal a total steal.

Got to see the pick first.

And to the "we are sellers" crowd. The trade deadline is early March. The team(like it or not) will not admit to selling until the very bitter end if it comes to that.

If the Rangers still look this bad by 2012 I'll be banking on that too so I don't have to watch them fail anymore.

Who says Slats doesnt want to sign him for one more season? Brashear was going to be here for 2 years, they need an enforcer for next season, he may be their plan.

The thing that troubles me most about this is that it shows us that Sather isn't in selling mode. Which really baffles me. I have a feeling these two games before the break are vital. If we lose both of them Sather has to trade our expiring contracts for picks. Right?

If its for a 6th or something I actually like this move. Relatively small cap hit, pending ufa. He can obviously still fight as illustrated by putting orr out last night. He has a reputation for being a leader, thats something we can use. If he sucks and doesn't fight well and/or make a positive impact, we let him go. If he comes in and does well, we can keep him for a small price. I'm really hoping that Boyle learns how to play harder between Prust and Shelley. That line could be pretty hard.

Prust god love him, is not a heavyweight. He's a middle weight that is willing, but not capable of dealing with the bigger guys.

Shelly, es evidenced by his win over Orr has the ability to go with the big boys and win his fair share.

depending on the pick it's not a horrible move, but it's also not a great move either when we have so many other more pressing issues.

I count two if my belief is correct that the deadline is March 3rd.

The make him an offer in JUly, just like everyone else that has interest in signing him for next year.

I'm really concerned by the people here who think that ANY pick is worthy of being flushed down the toilet for a 4th line rental at this point.

I see prust as an every night 4th liner where as shelly could be the 13th forward used when playing teams like the flyers. both should be re-signed, prust at 700k shelley at 500k

You have to carry a legit heavy & Donald obviously no longer fits the bill for NY
For the last 22 games of a losing season? Who the **** cares? Oh noes, we don't have a legitimate heavyweight goon!

Waste of a draft pick, no matter what round it is.

Words cannot describe how much I despise Sather. I swear to god, I think people on this forum would do a better job managing the Rangers organization. This guy really has completely lost it. He's gone bonkers. It's one bad decision after another. We might need to change the Mar.7th rally, to just March~ The rally should last the entire month.
