i understand the want for Harrold back on defense over Jones, but Jones over Drewiske isn't much of a difference other than Jones brings a bit more offense. Davis has been all sorts of ass since he's been back.
Exactly. How is Drewiske, who pound for pound is the best out of Drewiske/Harrold/Jones, ever going to get into game shape without playing? He sat for a week after being cleared to play. I thought he was better against Edmonton than he was against the Ducks.
I just don't see what Harrold did to play himself out of the 6th D spot.
I swear, since Murray has last change, if he intentionally puts Jones out against Hejduk or Duchene, I will **** a brick. The image of them burning around Jones is already ingrained in my memory, even though it has yet to occur.
Actually, Harrold has been a pretty steady dman with a good hockey IQ all along.
Yes, he's always had the IQ, but as Ludwig pointed out, most problems have come when he has played forward. He is not a bad forward, but rather just a non-factor. On D, he contributes and makes smart, quick plays and gets out of trouble well. Those skills don't help much when he is playing forward, even though, as I said, he's never been BAD. Just useless or usefull.
The funny thing is that many of the games Harrold played forward, he was supposedly there really as a back-up D in case Drewiske or Jones or whoever **** the bed. Yet, I don't recall a single game where he started as a forward and was moved to D mid-game. I could be wrong about that though. Point being that he never really was expected to be a good forward, but as always, just Mr. Utility. In a way, that versatility has both given him a spot on the team and taken away from his effectiveness since he is clearly better playing D, yet rarely ever does.
When I first saw this thread I thought it was going to be a complaint because a move people didn't like was made i.e. such as claiming Cheechoo or something. I am relieved it was just because Randy Jones is in the lineup... Sucks, but things could be worse
"It has not been a good day. I lost my glasses early this morning and I had to go buy a pair of 79 dollar reading glasses today. 79 bucks. You can literally get them at Costco, three-for-20." - Darryl Sutter's response to going up 2-0 in the series.
