Asked someone a few days ago(who should know)and they weren't sure. First it was Brashear would count. Then it was Brashear wouldn't count. Then he wasn't sure and he would ask. I sent in a note to the NHL yesterday inquiring about the situation. Usually this person responds but he hasn't yet. It's the weekend.

Nice signings Sather.
Follow other NHL teams as close as you follow the Rangers and you will see the same thing or worse.

that is rather humorous. Or is it the fact the Rangers are now paying Brashear 1.4 in Hartford and Rissmiller 1 million to play for Detroits AHL team

to Sather

So now he's actually reported and played, do the chances of terminating his contract completely die?

You guys wake up at 6am on sunday to talk hockey?

I need to step my game up a bit. . . I'm slacking

Might have to start cutting my evenings short~

Question: Is Brashear basically accepting being a 1.4M AHL enforcer? Is he really going to go out that way, or are we likely to see him play overseas next season? I was certain he would refuse to go down, and we'd be able to terminate his contract.

I think they have an agreement where Brashear goes down for a bit and gets some games in. Shows he can still skate and is fully healthy.

Then after the deadline he is on re-entry. Someone takes a chance on him for 1 yr 700K and Rangers eat 700 K next yr

If not he stays in Hartford all year and then they either throw him on re-entry again or make a deal with a KHL squad(crosses fingers)

The KHL from what i read only has 3 games left in the season after the olympic break. I pretty much think that option is dead for 2010. I think he is traded with a prospect somewhere to get him out of ny. Something like Owens and Brashear for a 4th type deal.

So I don't know if this was mentioned yet or if this is the right place but during the Pittsburgh game Maloney talked about Orr and the Rangers offering him a 2 year. Orr opted to test the market and the Rangers asked if him to call him if he gets an offer so they can match. Orr never called back.

Why would Brashear be picked up by a team if he were re-called after the trade deadline? The playoff rosters already set then and teams out of the playoffs (all 3 of them), probably don't want a veteran enforcer stuck on their roster for next season. And once the season ends, the Rangers have to put him back on their NHL roster and can't send him back down to the AHL until after training camp in Sept.

Any way you slice it, it was a horrible signing by Sather.

It's really been a common theme lately. Gomez/Drury/Redden/Kotalik/Brashear... What has he gotten right? Gaborik & Prospal...I'll throw Avery in there too. He's like 1 in 3 on UFAs.
