He was an absolute beast in the crease area, doubt we'll see too many people camping out while he's on the ice.

It looks like Kulda could be what Exelby was supposed to be, with better puck skills to boot

Bogo seemed to look much better all around as well.

I say keep Kulda up for the rest of the year, Pops is probably not coming back and Boris won't be back until next year.

A 4-44 pairing? Neat. Maybe I'll play that as a lottery number.

How is this guy not on team Latvia? He would be one of their best defensemen for sure...

well he got sent back down yesterday, but i have to assume he will be recalled after the break. im guessing they wanted to keep him playing during the break... although recalling him in a week when they start practicing again could be beneficial

that's what i'm assuming too, especially because we aren't sure that schubert will be ready to go right after the olympics yet.

Trust me, it's been the hottest discussion point on Latvian hockey sites since they announced the roster. The fans all wanted him there, especially considering they're playing on NHL sized ice against North American style players. It all came to a head this weekend when the President of the Latvian Hockey Federation got into a screaming match with their coach over not selecting him. He basically said "the nation will think we're idiots for not selecting him" (which is a big deal, since just like in Canada, 75% of the population watches the games and they even shut down parliament if the two conflict). They frantically tried to add him at the last moment this Sunday, but the IOC wouldn't allow it (which is weird, since both Switzerland and Germany had substitutions approved for non injured players).
