I was reading that because Richards always kills penalties vs the Pens, he knows how Sid plays the PP and that will give him a huge advantage as his line mate because he understands what he likes to do on the PP, makes a lot of sense actually !!

It is embarassing that Bergeron is on our top line.

Bergeron does A LOT of things that unfortunately do not show up on the stat sheet. There is a reason why he was picked for team Canada, and some people just have to wait and see him play to appreciate him.

In that game alone (against the Canucks), Bergeron should have had two assists easily, but Sturm couldn't finish, including missing the net while he was alone in the slot.

If Crosby and Bergeron pick up where they left off, I expect Pens fans will be counting down the days until Bergeron hits free agency in 2011. Of course, I'm hoping he signs a 10+ year extension and stays a Bruin.
I am 100% interested in seeing how they play together for that very reason. I can see why Crosby and Bergeron clicked in the past considering Bergeron can actually keep up with Sid mentally and does what Sid is hoping his linemates will do. Add in that he's a right handed shot with loads of talent and they are made to play together. I'd do just about anything to bring Patrice over to the Pens.

We have 4 top lines. Honestly. Just switch the lines around and he's on the 4th, 1st line.

Most would argue that the best player in the world should be playing with our best players and not our worst.

Sid's best wingers for the past two years have been Chris Kunitz and Bill Guerin. I think he'll manage with Nash and Bergeron

Whatever... You guys know that I think Bergeron shouldn't have made the team. I'm not the only one. Stamkos or Carter would have been better options IMHO. I'm leaving this at that.
If you think you know better than the Team Canada officials (the same people who were more impressed by Bergeron than the Lightning three when they scouted a B's/Tampa game a while back), by all means, apply for a managerial position immediately.

Plus having Staal and Bergeron on the PK would definitely give the Pens the #1 PK in the league.

Just thinking about Bergeron not playing for the Bruins gives me shudders.

Ive said it before and ill say it again, having Thornton on the top 2 lines is nothing but a downfall and will come back to bite us. No way should Getzlaf should be below slack off, mr. invisible, mr. non clutch "I dont need nobody" Thornton.

I actually think Bergeron on the top line will work pretty good. His defensive support will allow Crosby and Nash to just "go for it" a bit more, and also, it's not like Bergeron can't score.

The top 3 lines are going to see pretty much the same ice-time. Numbering lines is someting only fans and media do. They'll all play.

Bergeron is a good choice for Crosby and Nash because he's responsible at both ends of the rink and he and Crosby have had chemistry in the past. Nash doesn't play defence and he doesn't need to in this tournament. We need him and Crosby to dominate while Bergeron back-checks. Makes perfect sense.

I'm guessing you won't be around to say that you were wrong if Thornton shines in these Olympics?

ill be around, id just hate to rely on him for any sort of offense. Id use him in a 4th line role if it wasnt for his chemistry with Heater and Marleau.

It could just be me but i think Nash is the one guy on Canadas roster that benefits the most from having a great centre. Staals good too but Nash has better hands to compliment Crosbys passing game better.

Although I'm worried because Thornton is known for being a no-show in important situations, it's obviously illogical to shoot him down before the tournament has even started.

It's logical, however, to think of Thornton as a risk factor for Team Canada, which I think is what Puckgenius was aiming at.

This.

Probably the 5-on-5 time will be divided pretty evenly between the top 3, along with those players getting the bulk of the Powerplay, with the "checking line" some even-strength but those players more utilized on the PK. The one exception I could see is Iginla being used on the PP (and not at all on the PK) and Bergeron playing on the PK (but not at all on the PP).

But I'm not sure what they'll do about the Powerplay? Maybe...

PP1: Nash-Crosby-Iginla
PP2: Heatley-Thornton-Marleau

...but then what about Getzlaf, Perry, and Staal? Will Canada have any forwards play the point?

That would be nice, but in reality he's never shined when it mattered

Couple of reports noted that Nash and Staal both saw time with Crosby and Getzlaf respectively. Those two guys are interchangeable I think as far as ES goes.

I actually want Staal on the 3rd line because I think he's going to go a bit under the radar there. While teams do everything they can to shutdown Crosby's line and the San Jose line, we can then throw the big & fast Staal, Getzlaf, and Perry line out against other country's third lines.

I really think Staal is going to have a big Olympics and I think that's where he'll make the most impact.
