Would you do this trade?

to OTT: Scott Walker, Kevin Klein
to NAS: Martin Havlat

YES, Walker is the heart and soul of the team...but...how many more years do we get out of him? Havlat would take his position and output easily...for around the same price at the moment. Klein is a bit of youth that would be needed to sweeten the deal. I doubt Ottawa would take it...but I would, as a Nashville fan. Thoughts? I just offered Adam Hall, Klein and a third...but this is going to be my next offer.

I'd do it, because Sullivan > Walker, imo ... and Klein, well how many Klein's do we have in our system?

I'd do it too. Walker has a major injury every other season.

good luck.

this is a huge dream...mention it on the sens board and see what they say.

of course you would do it.

The sens fans would be happy to trade you Smolinski for Hartnell too or Legwand too.

I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I would initially offer to give up Hutch instead of Klein; but with Redden and Phillips, I doubt they would go for it.

How? Walker's a first line, 25 goal\70 point guy..and exactly what the Senators need. He fights, he hits, he leads...plays the PP, plays the PK. Well, fine. Continue getting knocked out in the second round because you have too many soft players.

If you say no to this deal you must be an Ottawa fan or have some wierd crush on Walker and/or Klein.

Havlat is turning 24 and was a PPG in the NHL last season.
Walker is turning 32 and will surely begin to show his age in the near future.
Klein is a good prospect, but not great.

Ottawa would never, ever do this trade btw.

Walker is four years older than Smyth...puts up similar numbers..and both have injury problems..but most think Smyth for Havlat is a fair deal. Kevin Klein should make up that age difference...because Walker is also much cheaper than Smyth

I think the deal is much closer to what a GM would actually consider. I still think it may favor Ottawa a nudge, but it looks like a decent deadline deal or pre-season trade. I think Ottawa fans have a tendency to look at all the positives about Havlat, and none of the negatives when determining his value. For starters, he can't play d, he has no heart, he doesn't stick up for his actions, he isn't a leader, he has a record for holding out over paltry amounts of money, but God he can score.......I really don't like the guy, as is obvious by my post. However, I would make this deal as a Pred fan. Maybe a 4th round pick, or a better prospect than Klein

I'd do it, and I'd send Legwand to Buffalo for Drury too.

Wow, at least it's Drury this time, and not Connolly

I like this trade and I think Ottawa would do it near this value. I think we might have to add one more decent player to the mix, but it fits needs. The question Ottawa will have is how well does Walker translate over to the left wing. With Alfie and Hossa well cemented on the right side, Walker would have to switch to the left. If he can, hee could easily be a first or second line LWer on that team and, if he stays healthy, could be the physical, emotional, and point producing presence that they lack on the left side. The only downside here is age right now, but if Ottawa trades Havlat, they are likely doing so to win a Cup in the next few years. That is exactly Walker's window.

He can give Ottawa (provided he moves over smoothly) three things it needs; toughness, a legit scorer on the LW, and leadership. I'd say they seriously consider it. Especially at the price we are asking AND at the salary Walker is taking.

he's a piece of trash as far as I'm concerned. He's worse then Avery or Ruutu. I take pride in our team as a whole, and I'd just prefer not have that stick swinger on it
