The Wild's top needs right now are a #2 center who can finish, forward prospects, and draft picks. Burns is an interesting player because he has shown potential to be a #1 offensive D man. He can put up 50 points if he plays to his potential and stays away from injuries. That's where the interesting part comes in. Previous management screwed him up by playing him at forward last year and in years past, and then he got his concussion. I don't see the Wild moving him unless he doesn't return to the form of his 40+ point season a couple years ago. That being said, with his potential, I think a mid level prospect and a 1st round pick or a legitimate #2 scoring center and a mid round pick would take him off our hands. And with that being said, I don't see Ottawa pulling the trigger on him.

If the Wild were to ever move Burns, they need a legit, NHL scorer in return.

That's not something that Sens have/would be willing to move.

Not unless they would give Spezza but that's not going to happen.

No, it's not.

As have been discussed before in the trade forum, the Wild and Sens don't make the greatest of partners because the Sens main, tradable pieces are on the blueline. And if they were looking to acquire a player like Burns, the Wild would undoubtably be looking for help up front.

I'd rather have Fisher for two reasons:

1) Its actually not that bad of a proposal
2) Carried Underwood at the games would just totally make being a STH that much better

Thoughts?

Lee + Kuba to Minny for Sheppard + Burns.

-Lee is liked by Minny, he is a native of Minny and drafted in the same position (9th overall) as Sheppard so neither club is getting a black eye with regards to former high pics.
-The Cap hits and years are the same as are the ufa/rfa statuses.
-Kuba played for Minny before as the captain so they know what they are getting.
-Burns has some concussion issues but I could see Murray taking that chance as he is still young and has the highest potential of the group.
-Fletcher (minny's GM) has stated he will not trade pics, and this type of trade is the type that both GM's like (looking to the Ott-Car trade and the Min-Mtl trade).
-Min has the option of keeping Lee in the AHL for cap and actual dollar savings.

Pos Name Cap Hit Years Pos Name Cap Hit Years
D Kuba 3.7 3 D Burns 3.55 3
D Lee 1.25 1 C Sheppard 1.4 1

Ugh is what I think.
Kuba, while often maligned here when he didn't entirely deserve it, is not a positive add to this deal. Local kids coming here is not a positive, it's a negative, if you ask me. Doesn't usually work nicely.

As I've said before I honestly think Burns will not be moved unless we get a legitimate #2 center and a pick or a 30+ goal scoring winger and a pick in return. It may take more, and we do not need more D right now...

As an Ottawa fan I feel insulted for Wild Fans and management when you offer Lee and Kuba for Burns and Shepard. That is a complete slap in the face of Burns, even if you take Shepard out of this deal I think its outrageous. Burns is a legit #1 pair physical defencemen who can move the puck and is a giver' at all time from what I have seen. Kuba tires hard........when he start using his monsterous body maybe I would even look at this deal, he is not up to Burns' defence at all and his offence which is supposed to be his strong suit still but he still isn't even better than Burns at that. I am very for Lee to Minny because I wish the young man well in his career, but there is seemingly no future for Brian in Ottawa as there is NO future in this deal.

THIS WAS ALL IMO.

Would Foligno + Ottawa's 1st round pick be enough?

Foligno is a young powerforward type player.

- Has potential to put up 50-60 points a season.
- Good along the boards, Good hands and Wheels
- Leadership potential
