OFFENSE
that Giroux has great vision and while Gagne has started to score i think these two should be paired together. i also think Richards needs a change to simply things and to stop trying to force things like he seems to be doing.
Gagne gets a good playmaker who can make great passes and you leave someone like Asham on that like to grind and protect them. leave Carters line as is. Put Give Richie a change of scenary. leave Betts line as is. It would be nice to add a decent forward for Richies line but idk who you would take out? Powe?
Defense
I feel they are playing well together. its crazy how the waiver pick ups have been soo important. Krajicek has really helped. Coby and Bart do struggle but their solid enough for third line on defense.
GOALIE
Leighton has been a great suprise!! but all the goals he s given up as of late are all weak goals. if he can get that under control and the defense continues to play this well i see no need to do anything with goaltending until summer. Leighton is just so big and that helps so much but i feel that has something to do with the weak goals he does give up.
long post bored watching the olympics and missing my Flyers what does everyone think of this and if we did add a depth dman or a top 9 forward who are the possibilities and what do you give in return??
Bart and Coburn have been solid as of late. When Parent and Syvret are healthy again, they should be #7 and 8 respectively until someone starts to diminish in either play or health. There is no reason to tinker with things when you don't have to.
Don't we play our first game post olympics on deadline day?
Given that we probably will make some trades, isn't it a bit futile to make up lines that will persist for at most one game?

We play TB the day before the deadline, but I'm not sure it's a "given" we're going to make some trades given our cap situation.

I didn't say it's a given that we will make. I said that we probably will. You might replace the given with "Seeing the circumstances". Still it doesn't matter whether we make a trade, it's the insecurity that the roster will stay unchanged for an extended period of time immediately following the Olympics that renders making line combos right now futile.
I absolutely love these lines and can tell that you put a lot of thought into them.
Carcillo at Center is perfect. He has the vision, speed, defensive abilities, and is good on faceoffs. Bartulis on Wing should have been thought of sooner. We could call up Morganti if we need more size and grit on this line.
Briere should have never left Center. He belongs there. Boucher on Wing is perfect because he is a big body with great hands, and is willing to throw his weight around. Giroux will be setting the two of them up non stop! Boucher will be the new Knuble!
Richards - Cote - Meltzer is a thing of beauty. Cote and Richards are a match made in heaven and this should have been put together a long time ago. I can't believe Stevens never tried it. Meltzer has the hockey intelligence to be in the right spot at all times. With both Cote's and Richard's passing abilities, Meltzer will be one of the most successful third liners in the game! I would also like to use Meltzer in Shootouts. I think he may have something that we haven't seen yet.
Carter - Ward - Lappy would make a great fourth line. I always thought Carter would be a good Fourth liner, and I think they could possibly be one of the most hard working solid group of Fourth liners EVER. Carters hitting and Lappy's breakaway speed combined would be SICK.
On D:
Coburn would definitely be carried by Reese, but I think this could work. Reese just needs to come down on his pinching.
Gagne and Carle would make an excellent pairing because Gags is smart defensively and can stay back while Carle concentrates on Offense. (wait, this is accurate...maybe we SHOULD try this?)
Pronger - Leino
I'd prefer Pronger as the 7th defenseman and maybe making a pitch for that Vandermeer guy, or possibly someone like Mike York.
In Goal:
Betts is solid, but I think we should look into a more capable backup (maybe someone like Pitkanen, Souray, or maybe bring Barnaby, Keith Jones, or PJ Stock out of retirement).
