I would love to be able to stay AWAY from him. He is a left shooting D too, where does that leave MDZ? MDZ plays on the left side, so dose Souray.

But I think thats kind of what it is about. To be able to stay away from him, or someone like him (McCabe). We need someone who can shoot the puck on the PP.
on the PP Souray plays the right side

No offense to Vitto himself, but that's about what all his speculated trades look like.

why is this being called a blockbuster?

souray's a fragile crappy player.

A blockbuster trade = a trade involving important star players, not involving players that fans want to bury in the minors

This is purely a my trash for your trash deal, and the winner is who can unload more garbage onto the other team

The only way I'd want anything to do w/ souray is if it's souray + their 1st for nothing, then we bury him

OK. I hear what you are saying, but it doesn't change the fact that there is ZERO chance they are sending Redden to play out his contract in Hartford.

a. 6 MILLION dollars

b. He hasn't been that bad

I know he's the goat, probably deserves it to. But does he deserve to be banished from the NHL?

If you know anything about Glen Sather , you know the answer to that question is an easy NO.

It would take Dolan DEMANDING that it be done and thats just not happening.

All that said Sather will find a deal or ride it out.

Souray is 5.4 cap hit over in 11/12

Redden is 6.5 cap hit through 13/14

Sather somehow swaps these two contracts and its a no brainer.

If Sather doesn't swap these contracts and somehow winds up with both of them, he needs to retire immediately...

omg that would be awful...

It was no secret the Rangers and Souray wanted each other when he became a ufa. He waited a long time before signing with the Oilers that summer. He was hot coming off a sick Montreal PP unit that really highlighted his cannon. He's been injured a lot...

This game can be very difficult to predict

so who thinks Rozsival can be moved?.............2 yrs , 5 million cap hit per but his actual dollars are alot less........................what teams have tons of cap space and can throw back a Dman making 3 million per.........I'd be fine with saving a few million off the cap atleast

I think dozens of teams would line-up for Rozsival if he was an UFA this summer looking for 3.5M~

There's no doubt in my mind he can be moved for value.

Yea, I definitely want no part of Souray, rather just bury him in the minors.

I think that if we get Souray it will be a lot harder/ if not impossible to sign Kovalchuk and build a team around him Gabs and Hank. If we bury Redden in the minors then we have that extra money to give to players that would actually be worth the money, and give a damn about this team.

Getting Souray, to me, would pretty much end our shot at Kovalchuk. We still be able to get him if we got rid of Rosival but we'd have a lot less extra money.

Even as much as I want Weiss on this team to have a line of Kovy Weiss Gaborik when the game is on the line, getting Weiss would make it hard to get Kovalchuk as well.

Someone enlighten me. If we send Redden to Hartford does that clear us of 6.5 million or is that only half. I believe waiving is half but I am not sure about just sending someone to the AHL. I also believe that buying out a contract doubles the years for half the price.

If he's sent to Hartford without any team claiming him, the money comes off the cap.
If he's claimed, then the Rangers have to pay half his salary.
If he's brought out the the Rangers have to pay double of what's left on his contract.

Because of the >35 loophole if they send him down to the minors then it does not count against the cap. I heard somewhere if they buy him out we'd have to pay him for another 8 years or so i think at like 1-2million/yr.

It's in honor of Donnie Walsh clearing cap space for to max FAs.

Maybe he can find a way to trade Redden too.

Well, no, the Rangers would only have to pay half the salary if he was put on re-entry waivers to come BACK up to the Rangers and someone claimed him.

If he's bough out, whatever years he have left is multipled by 2 and the money is divided evenly throughout those years (4 years left on the deal). If he's bought after the season, he'd be owed 8 years worth of money.

That, good sir, is only half the bad. I was happy as well but if he really tanks come July 1st then we will be a bad team for a LONG TIME. Here's to hoping that doesn't happen.
