Yeah that's true. Also when did the Phillies get Vogelsong? I wouldn't mind seeing him as the number five guy. My guess is that is Moyer doesn't make the rotation he retires. He seemed pretty pissed last season when he got the boot from the rotation and I don't see him sticking around to work out of the pen. That being said, he should at least start the season in the rotation judging by the other options.

He won't retire with 8.5 million in guaranteed money.

Mathieson is not an option after 3 elbow surgeries. He will be a reliever from now on.

Damn I didn't realize that. I thought the Phills were still real high on this guy. Nevermind. I am really pulling for Mike Zagurski to make the team. IIRC he was pretty solid during his short time on the big club a little while back before he got injured. He can be the new Matt Stairs?

The lovable resident fat guy? Sure, every team needs one of those. As long as he is able to get LH hitters out late in the game. Hitting a late-inning, game-winning home run to help vault this team into the World Series would be the cherry on top, especially given the fact that he'll never get an AB in the Majors.

Oh, and for everyone's reading pleasure:

Wow. As I was scanning over this I didn't think much of the batting average, but then my jaw dropped a little bit each other category, thinking..."look at that slugging %...look at those home runs! it's per team!"

Clearly it was a joke about being the fat guy, not the homer hitter.

Someone posted it in the Baseball forum. Someone even tried to defend it. The Mets are dumb.

I was pissing my pants when I went to MLBTR and read "Mets Upgrade Offer to Barajas."

When I was in Toronto last year he hurt himself running out of the box in his first AB. He continued to try running it off. All the way from right field I was yelling that he couldn't shake off the suck.

Chan Ho Park signed with the Yankees for 1.3 million. The Phils offered him 3 million. His agent sucks.

That's how the market's been working for the last two years. I'm wondering if players will finally just start taking earlier offers any time soon.

I also don't see how the hell he gets the opportunity to start for the Yankees. But he could make their bullpen pretty damn good. The more I type, the more I dislike this signing and want to call Park a *******.

Eh, it's a bit of a misleading stat given the DH v. pitcher dynamic. AL East is certainly stacked, but if you take out the DH and just compare the field players, it isn't going to be that massive a difference.
