Umm..... I thought Rick Nash was Canada's best forward tonight. He drove the net, threw some big hits and played with passion. He made one great play on a 2 on 2 where he skated backwards to create a shooting lane for the player on the rush with him. Would have been a highlight one had he scored.

Nash is usually at his best in meaningless tournaments like the World Championship in May.

He's been awesome. Where are you?

Looks really confident out there (sometimes too confident, honestly). Being physical like I've never seen. I hope he keeps it up when he comes back to Columbus.

Nash has easily been one of Canada's best forwards. He's hitting, driving the net, and creating chances.

That's sort of the problem isn't it, you're supposed to get results, not look good while being ineffective.

PS - Did you guys know Doug Maclean drafted Rick Nash?

He's a good player, but it just seems like he has kicked his game up several notches with Team Canada. If he were to do that in Columbus, it would really help the team, not to mention that it would help justify him wearing the "C" and possibly silence some of those who think he shouldn't have it.

P.S. -- I hated your P.S.

Would you rather him play like others on the team and look bad while being ineffective?

He's making plenty of plays. His points will come.

Nash has been one of the best players on Canada. He's been using his big body, speed, and skill to his advantage. He's been working his ass off.

So hitting people, puts you on the top line? He needs to score some goals, and put up points with crosby..he can hit on the 3rd/4th line.

Have you just been ignoring his play in the offensive zone? You don't punish the guy who's been working harder and getting better chances than half the team. He's played well - I don't see how you think he's just out there hitting people and playing awful hockey.

Well, maybe Babcock does (Iginla).

In an 82 game season, I'd agree, but it's a short tournament. You're either doing it or not, there's no guarantee anything will go in for him, and regardless of how great he looks it's not enough when it's a one goal game and the other team's goalie is dominant.

I thought he had a good game tonight but it is painfully evident how he has zero playmaking skills and is actually hurting Crosby more than he is helping him. Nash is probably the best one-on-one player off the rush on the team, but he has no passing ability at all. The tough part is that as frusturated as you might get with his lack of production, there is just no way you can keep him off the ice because of the fact that he has such gambreaking potential.

Who do you put over him? He's playing better than most of the other wingers on the team. That's my point.

I wouldn't have a problem with Canada shaking up the lines.. but he doesn't deserve to see reduced minutes. He's been one of Canada's better players.

I don't really have a problem with his play. Yeah he needs to start putting pucks in but there are other guys to point the finger at well before him.

Ive watched all 3 games, his best game was probably tonight...but he has not been a 1st line player. Against the swiss he was invisible, tonight he hit people, and norway well its norway...

He has not proved he should be on the 1st line.

The point is it doesn't matter so long as the goals aren't going in. He could just be a complete cherry picker and stink it up like Phil Kessel on an off night, but if he can pot two goals in a hurry, that means more to Canada than all the intangibles that don't bring results.

I don't necessarily think he does either, and looking good in this crowd doesn't mean jack to me. He's not getting it done.

Nobody else is bringing results (don't take this literally, some are, but most wingers are playing worse and I don't see them breaking up the Shark line). At least he's getting chances. Chances lead to goals.

He doesn't deserve to be punished. Others deserve to be punished more than he does, because he's at least played well.

See what I'm saying?

EDIT: Alright, you don't think he deserves punishment. Just point the finger at others who are playing bad hockey before the guy who is at least giving it 150% and getting chances. He's not the reason Canada is struggling. If everyone were playing as hard as he has been, Canada would have no trouble putting the puck in the net.

This.

It's almost like last year, someone had a wet dream about Nash and Crosby absolutely owning the Olympics together, and they refuse to admit that its not working. They seem to keep thinking that "if we give it more time, they are just gonna click and that will be that". But there is NO guarentee they will just suddenly click and take off - and personally, I'd rather not wager the Olympic tournament on two players magically clicking.

I think there is good reason that they wouldn't click, mainly that they both need the puck. While Iginla can be similar, he also has a great shot and likes to shoot the puck. So when you pair Crosby with Iginla, Crosby can hold onto the puck, and Iginla can shoot it.

With Nash, he likes to carry the puck and drive the net. What does Crosby add here?

Let Nash play with Perry and Getzlaf. Nash likes to lug the puck, Getzlaf likes to shoot the puck, and Perry likes to be an all around agitator and pick up the garbage.

Put Staal with Crosby and Iginla. Crosby likes to lug the puck, Iginla likes to shoot it. Staal is a jack of all trades player that can go to the net and cause havoc.

But having Nash and Crosby together is just painful. They are both trying really hard, but there just isn't enough puck to go around.
