Forsberg injured his hand tonight. It can be serious!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Late in the game tonight - when Markus Näslund played his first game for Modo - Forsber injured his hand and in the news after the game they said that it looked serious and that he can be gone a long time.
This is really bad news for Forsberg who has longed for a gold for Modo for ten years now.
I just hope that the first news will change so he only will be gone a week or two.

Arghh, they say now that he will have surgery tomorrow

EDIT: Petey21 clarified a few things with this post on the Avsboard:

He has a scaphoid fracture after a collision with an opponent, and he will have to undergo surgery tomorrow. No words yet on how long he will be gone but these kinds of injuries often require quite some time to heal.

Knowing Forsberg, he'll just learn to play with the other hand!

He's did undergo surgery, and his hand/arm is put in plaster (which I think is correct?).

They'll check his hand later again, and if nothing more appears to be damaged, he'll be out for at least 7-8 weeks according to various sources.

I still can't believe this guy gets no respect around here. He has been a ***** for this game giving away his body/bodyparts to play this game . It really gets me pissed when I hear people say he doesn't play with heart.

Too bad for Peter the Great...could it be good news for Steen?

Will he see more high end playing time possibly?

Copied from Modo's website.
A short translation: His wrist was dislocated and had a surgery last night at Örnsköldsviks hospital. Preliminary reports says he'll be gone for 6-8 weeks, but he's in Umeå visiting a wrist specialist now.
Modo's physio, Kim Thorsén, indicates there's no danger for his further career, though.

Modo's director of sports, Bengt Hedin, says he's pleased with Näslund and Aucoin's performances. He also says they'll contribute a lot to the team.

Here are some pictures that show how it all happened (2 pages of clickable photos).

As for the question someone had about Steen getting more ice time because of this, I'd say probably no. Last night he was on a line with Per Svartvadet and Markus Näslund and saw alot of ice time. Next game (tomorrow Saturday) he will be on a line with Dan Hinote and Magnus Gästrin and will probably not see as much ice time as in the last game, will most likely get decent ice time though.

Is Tommy Salo hurt too? I see he hasn't started for a couple games. Maybe they got rid of him?

Yeah, he's got some problems with his foot, don't know more than that, though.

It's ironic that Forsberg was injured by colliding with Detroit prospect Johan Franzén. I guess the Colorado/Detroit rivalry lives on.

That was more likely than not, considering that the Wings have drafted more Swedes than the Swedish defense forces have.
