Rakhshani remains the Isles most underrated prospect...it's not by accident that they tried to sign him last offseason. The guy doesn't have elite skills but I think that he can score 20 goals in the NHL if he keeps progressing this way.

From what I've seen, he has very good speed (something we can use), and pretty good hands. 20 Goals seems about right, but his ceiling might be even higher.

Definitely a kid who'll very likely be signed and in Bridgeport next year. Have no idea what his long-term upside is, but he's not the biggest boy and he'll be joining the pro ranks as what, a 23 year old?

I sure hope he's a keeper because some of the kids from his draft year like Figren and Marcinko haven't really been showing the signs one might have hoped from them.

Wonder if he's in the running for the Hobey this year?

In addition, when was the last time we had a guy on his way to 50+ points in the NCAA???

Been a while...

I haven't seen him play but I love what I've read about this guy. Leadership and hockey sense along with measurable output (albeit in College).

Promising to see players like this in the organization. Gregoire is described similarly.

I love not hearing the term "enigmatic" when describing prospects.

Although their projected upside is NOT first line impact players, these are the type of people you want in your organization.

IMHO Gregoire is better than Rakhshani. Rakhshani is OK, but he's not a lock to make the NHL, even as a third line type. He will need to overcome the odds because of his size, and while his skating is a couple notches above-average, it's not special.

Chrs Botta just reported Corey Trivino suffered a broken right fibula during Boston University’s 5-2 win over Maine and is out for the season.

Speaking of Rakhshani, I don't know if you guys listen to the HF podcast or not, but the host was speaking to someone who said she thought Rakhshani might win the Hobey Baker this year. I can't remember her name, but she sounded like someone who knew what she was talking about.

nice job CIsle!

what's with Brian Day - College scoring machine. I always felt this guy was a SteveWebb type player?! Anyone seen this guy play?

And Petrov? still not playing or is he hurt?

Couldn't find anything on Petrov.

The Kazan website does have the updated stats and apparently, he hasn't played ANY games for them since the WJC.

Where they have him posted isn't available under his player profile.

I've never seen Brian Day play, but certainly it shouldn't be overlooked that he had a strong season last year and is, especially by ECAC standards, having an extremely strong year this season.

Ironically enough, we've heard like next to NOTHING about this kid since drafting him.

Wonder if he'll be at the propspect camp this summer.

He definitely seems to be developing at a better pace than Rogers, who as a sophomore, looked like he had some real potential.

Gregoire just scored a really nice goal for the Sioux. 15th in 32 games. I'm jealous you guys got this kid. His skating could use a little improvement, but he's got a hard, accurate shot and great work ethic.

Anders Lee has a 5-game goal streak going on, and also has 10 goals in his last 10 games. He also leads the USHL in goals (28 in 45 matches).

Judging by stats only, he might be quite the gem, although it will be easier to gauge his value next year in the NCAA.

Lee scores OT winner in Lincoln Saturday for 9th GWG and League lead in goals at 28. Lee in his rookie USHL season leads the league in Goals 28, GWG's with 9, and 2nd in +/- Interesting stat, 26 of his 28 goals were scored 5v5....

For comparison, Okposo went 27-31-58 in 50 games during his year in the USHL....Anders is 28-24-52 through 45 games...also a +31. Not too shabby.

While Rakhshani is obviously a deserving candidate for the Hobey Baker, he won't win the award. This is because his teammate, goalie Marc Cheverie, will likely cancel him out. Cheverie is probably the frontrunner since his value to Denver is unquestioned, and Denver would go nowhere without him in net. Rhett will probably be a finalist, but he won't win.

Didn't Gregoire also lead the USHL in points two years ago?

I do believe his 69 points in 54 games in 07-08 led the USHL. Don't forget though, it was his 2nd USHL season. This is Lee's first!

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p....php?pid=99059

In addition, Gregoire's 15 tallies times this season has surpassed the 12 he had last season. He's also very close to eclipsing his freshman point totals of 29.

He currently has 27 with another 8+ games to go.

Yes, but I believe there was an age difference. Okposo went to college immediately after he was drafted, at age 18. Lee is a year older, and still in the USHL. The better comparison would be Jason Gregoire. He led the league in scoring as a 19 year old. Lee has a long ways to go, but very promising start. I'd rather the Isles just sign him and put him in the AHL next year. He'll be 20 to start next season, I believe.
