Yep, that would be an interesting duo.

Jagr is washed up.

He went to the KHL to get a last huge pay check...
and comes back to play 1 year for the team with the best shot to the cup....

That is exactly the attitude a contender needs.....

There is a similar player who tries the same......
ask the Pens, Detroit and this year Chicago

A little part of me would die if I saw a team with Crosby, Malkin, and Jagr on it.

Well thats what Edmonton radio talked about non stop for a while.
Dude you do realize that Hemsky plays with Horcoff right? By that account its a miracle he can put up 70 points.

I'm sorry I think you misunderstood me. Hemsky plays on a line with a guy named Shawn Horcoff. They play together on the same line. So whenever Hemsky is playing, Horcoff is playing. Horcoff sucks. He can't hit an open net to save his life. I'd take Bill Geurin and Ruslan Fedetenko over that guy anyday.

So just to recap. Hemsky plays with Horcoff and Horcoff sucks.

from what ive seen and read of Jagr over the past couple of years this seems like a total misread of Jaromir Jagr.
id take him and his good attitude on the sens anytime.

I dread of the day I wake up to see

BREAKING! Glen Sather of the NY Rangers has signed Jagr for 24 million in the span of 4 years.

The worst is it might happen.

And then, two games into the season, Jagr would retire, given the way things seem to go for Sather's UFA signings.

IF any NHL team were interested in him and IF Jagr is smart enough to only consider choosing a team with a legitimate # 1 center that can get him the puck, a comeback seems possible. However, those are two big "IFs".

Jagr has proven during these Games that he is an average player without a premier playmaker centering him. Pittsburgh would be his best option, if the Pens were interested.

I think we would be, for the PR and because even a 38 year old Jagr is a better option than most of our wingers, but it'd really depend on what Jagr would ask in return.

The other problem is, Jagr plays at his best with elite center talent, but he has historically demanded to be the best player on his own line-- e.g. Jan Hrdina, Kip Miller, etc. How he'd react to having to play second fiddle on ANY Pens line is a mystery with some potentially unwelcome complications.

Jagr wants to play in Canada but I don't see him going to Vancouver or Calgary, Edmonton needs to resign like 10 RFAs that all get paid around 1 mill and have Visnovsky's contract, Ottawa needs defence not offence, Montreal will use all money to sign Plekanec. Hey if he went to the Leafs I would be happy but something tells me that when he said Canada, Toronto wasn't included.

I'm pretty sure if a guy retires his contract will not come up against the cap so this would be pretty positive if guys like Redden, Rozival and Drury retired (I don't care how he has played in these olympics, because is over the hill and invisible on the Rangers).

He should come to the Rangers cos he'd instantly become the 2nd skater in the team. He would need to forget elite center talent centering him though.. ._.

Before he considers any deal, he has to check with OBGYN first.

True - although that isn't saying much when the Penguins' top scoring winger is 40-year old Bill Guerin.

Nope. If he's 35+ when he signs the contract, and then retires, the cap hit of the entire contract over the duration of the contract remains. You wouldn't have to pay his salary, but that cap hit would still be on the books, if I'm reading the CBA right.

If the contract is voided, somehow, though, then you can get rid of the cap hit. But that's sometimes easier said than done, and the NHLPA or the League would probably block any attempt to void contracts en masse.
