What gear will get you "chirped" at? (Besides a tinted visor)
lets see where do I start. I have a tinted aviator visor because they were all out of the clears, I wear a coyotes practice jersey as my jersey, I have a hole or two in my socks, and I use stick tape colors red, and blue. If anyone tried to chirp at me I would just two hand slash you take you down on wait for someone to come escort me off the ice.
What is the big deal about guys wearing a neckguard?
...
I say the ones running their mouths for no good reason, are the first in line for a cross check to the teeth or right hook.
Wouldn't it be more appropriate to cross check them in the throat?
I've been chirped a few times. I was a goal/forward growing up so I always had two jersey numbers but once I wore the wrong jersey I was told by my coach after warm up.
My favorite people are the ones that were the Oilers or Kings jersey with the good old 99 I always say something when they get burned or have a turn over. I hate guys that try to copy ovechkin and crosby come on guys its beer league. But i'm a dork cause all my equipment is Minnesota Wild Colored and Team Finland Colored yes i have to sets cause those are my teams colors.
Any dumb ass that wears zubas or jogging pants I laugh come on people hockey pants aren't that much. The guys I hate that join my league are they guys who are puck hogs and have to score all the goals. We kicked a guy out of league cause he didn't pass in a game.
What I've been chirped about-
my green and red tape
my koivu jerseys
my oakley shield (its just a cheap one Nothing special)
What I've Chirped about-
99 on any jersey (atleast one a season)
old Jofa helmets (Gretzkey style)
66 on any jersey
Ovechkin and Crosby look a likes
Patrick Roy covered goal equipment
69 on anything (we had a team one season called the 69ers)
anything to do with super heros
people that wear roller hockey stuff for ice hockey LOL
I get chirped at about my RBK Edge socks... lol I like them over the knits and found some pro stocks (all black).
I love the guys in ITT that are like just play hockey. In case you didn't know, chirping is an art form in every sport. I wear things that could be deemed chripable (?). You chirp to chirp. If the guy is chubby then you chirp about his weight. If a guy wears 99 then you chirp at him for being Gretzky. etc.
I wear yellow Graf laces on my skates because they are waxy as hell and last a long time but I do get chirped (so wat?). I also use high end sticks with candy cane tape and a modified curve. I get crap for those things too.

Yeah, but why chirp at someone for using a wood stick? Thats like chirping at someone in basketball for wearing sneakers. I understand some of these things but the wooden stick is beyond me.
I appreciated being lumped in with the "handicaps."
If you're playing hockey, carry your damn bag.
Oh...and I chirp for one thing.
Bubble gum pink gloves.
you get a pass on getting beaked for being female, not for being handicapped. Although being female and never being wrong (just ask my wife) is kind of a handicap.
And my daughter loves chirpin the pink gloves and pink laces.
For the OP wherever it is that you live DO NOT show up at your rink with the home sides most popular players jersey on. I am assuming you are new to hockey. When new skaters show up at the rink around here wearing a Toews or Kane jersey they are not gonna hear the end of it.

You chirp at them for using a wood stick because they are using a wood stick. It's the age of composites. Basically if you not wearing identical equipment as me you're going to get chirped and if you are wearing identical equipment as me you're going to get chirped. You get it now? You chirp at everyone for everything because you can and it get's under their skin.

No way. Chirping at chicks on the rink is great. We have a woman that plays in my men's league that is actually quite good but I like to rib her every now and again just for being a girl.
I am an inline guy I would say the biggest thing that gets me going is quad skates and sweat pants.
Also the league I play in does not allow cages unless the player has a doctors note so that will usually get a guy chirped at.
Why would the league not allow cages? That is very strange to me, to disallow more protection?
This kind of dates the guys on the bench I played with, but when I mentioned I used quads as a kid, the kid next to me asked what they were...when I explained you had to stop backwards as the stopper was on the toe, he thought I was BS'ing him...
I would like to give thanks to this forum for educating me as a total noob so I'd know to bring (spent a mere $9.99 each) a plain white and black CCM practice jersey to the rink...

i meant in reference to the wheel bag, not totally not chirpin them just because they are female.

Bacon,I usually throw a "pretty good for a girl" at them but that's about the extent of it. I admire you for "takin one for the team" you must be one hell of a wingman.
^^^ he has one hell of a flow though, but he's got the boiler to go with it too.
theres one guy on my team who rips me for wearing a visor. by the 2nd period it starts fogging up, so i have to constantly wipe it down. he always tells me to stop being a p**** and take it off. last game he said the same thing, then next shift i got a skate right across my shield (horizontally) right where my right eye sits. after the scratch was pointed out (i didnt notice it happened at first) i showed the guy, and he still says shields are for wimps.lol. last game he got beaned in the cheek by a shot. huge welt, bleeding. still wont wear one.lol

Its a good thing your eye doesnt protrude from your head as far as your visor sits. If your right eye was a couple inches longer you could have lost it!
I think a tinted/mirror visor looks ridiculous. And the print or color tape looks amateur.
I actually like when guys put on the yellow laces, pink tape, etc. One of the best guys for the other team last week was using Canadian flag tape so it was easy to shut him down. Other guys with bright yellow tape, shut them down. At our low level, guys with visors tend to be better than guys with cages. And of course guys who wear #9 tend to be pretty good (most of the 99's are awful for some reason).
Makes me glad I wear the cage, white laces, black or white tape. I do wear #9, but I play D so nobody sees the back of my jersey
Me too, though I've always regretted taking 9, there's a 9 on every team in this league and they're usually pretty good. Actually there's a 69 on every team aswell, sometimes a couple of em.

What kinda league allows you to have two of the same number per team?
